SENIOR TEEN MOTHERS Taking the Lead in Supporting and Protecting the Next Generation

Recently, Provident Teen Mothers Organisation held a meeting with our Senior Teen Mothers ; young women who were once teen mothers and have walked the journey of overcoming challenges through mentorship, support, and personal growth.

The discussion focused on how they can support and guide current teen mothers by sharing their experiences, offering encouragement, and becoming positive role models within their communities. We also discussed their role in creating community awareness on teenage pregnancy prevention by educating and encouraging young people, parents, and communities to make informed decisions.

Through the voices and experiences of Senior Teen Mothers, we believe we can inspire change, prevent teenage pregnancies, and create a safer and more supportive environment for teenagers.

GAINED HOPE AND CONFIDENCE AFTER AFTER ATTENDING PROVIDENT TEEN MOTHERS MENTORSHIP.

A Teen Mother’s Journey of Transformation

Mary is not the real name for confidentiality
Age: 17 years
Location: Kananage Teen Mothers Support Group, Kamuli District

When I discovered that I was pregnant at the age of 17, my life changed completely. I felt lost, hopeless, and overwhelmed by fear of what people would say about me. I became emotionally affected and started withdrawing from those around me. I felt judged and misunderstood, and whenever someone tried to talk to me, I often reacted with anger because I felt they were criticizing me.

I had lost confidence in myself and struggled to see a future beyond my situation.

Everything started changing when I joined the Provident Teen Mothers Mentorship Program at Kananage Teen Mothers Support Group. Through the mentorship sessions, I found a safe space where I could share my experiences, receive guidance, and connect with other young mothers facing similar challenges.

The program helped me understand that my pregnancy did not end my dreams. I received psychosocial support, parenting guidance, health education, and encouragement to make responsible decisions for my health and my baby’s future.

Today, I am a different person. I have learned to manage my emotions, appreciate myself, and seek support instead of isolating myself. I have also started attending antenatal care regularly to ensure that both my baby and I remain healthy. I am now six months pregnant and looking forward to becoming a responsible mother.

“Before joining the mentorship program, I felt alone and judged. I had lost hope and would become angry whenever people tried to help me. Through Provident Teen Mothers, I found people who listened to me, guided me, and helped me believe in myself again.”

Her journey demonstrates the importance of providing teen mothers with emotional support, health information, and mentorship. With the right guidance and a supportive environment, young mothers can overcome challenges, manage stress, and rebuild their future

Today, Provident Teen Mothers Organisation was honored to join fellow NGOs in commemorating the Day of the African Child at Nawansaso Primary School, Kamuli District.

We were privileged to have Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadagaas the Chief Guest, whose inspiring message encouraged all stakeholders to continue protecting, educating, and empowering every child.

The event brought together learners, teachers, local leaders, development partners, and community members to celebrate the rights and potential of every African child.

We thank the organizers, partners, and everyone who participated in making the day a success. At Provident Teen Mothers Organisation, we remain committed to empowering children, supporting teen mothers, and creating brighter futures through mentorship, education, and community engagement.

TEEN MOTHERS BACK TO SCHOOL AFTER RECENT TEEN MOTHERS MENTORSHIP

Yesterday, Provident Teen Mothers had the joy of meeting with teen mothers who have successfully rejoined school following our recent Teen Mentorship Programme in Kananage'A Village.

Seeing these young mothers return to the classroom is a powerful reminder that with the right support, encouragement, and determination, education remains possible. We are proud of their courage and commitment to building a brighter future for themselves and their children.

We remain dedicated to walking alongside these young mothers, providing mentorship, guidance, and opportunities that empower them to stay in school and achieve their dreams.

Together, we are restoring hope, one young mother at a time.

Yesterday was a memorable and inspiring day at Provident Teen Mothers.

We proudly celebrated the successful completion of Level One of our Teen Mothers Mentorship Program by awarding certificates to our amazing teen mothers. This milestone marks the beginning of a new journey as they transition towards becoming Senior Teen Mothers—young women equipped with greater knowledge, confidence, resilience, and the ability to inspire and support others.

We also presented Certificates of Appreciation to our dedicated LC1 Chairperson, Village Health Team (VHT) members, local leaders, and volunteers in recognition of their unwavering commitment and support towards the success of this program. Your partnership is making a lasting difference in the lives of young mothers in our community.

Though simple, the ceremony was meaningful. It served as a source of encouragement, motivation, and hope, reminding every participant that their efforts are valued and that brighter opportunities lie ahead.

We sincerely thank everyone who attended, supported, and believed in our vision. Together, we are empowering teen mothers to rebuild their lives and create brighter futures.
