I am really honored to be part of the Infinite Laudato Si Group. We care for the environment and do much for it. We had a seedling nursery bed done and now we look forward to having many fruit tree seedlings.

"The pearl of Africa." But what is the Pearl of Africa?
What is the Pearl of Africa? Is it meant to be the land of beauty and purity? Well, in consideration with Winston Churchill’s statement, “Uganda, the Pearl of Africa,” Uganda was once viewed in this way. However, I think it is gradually losing its beauty and purity. With the modern times, artificial setups are replacing the natural environment. We are comfortably adjusting and moving on with our way of life. Environmental degradation? Really? A way of life? No!

Well, I want to put this on ground: Man can adjust to the environmental changes, he can build any structure or modernize all sorts of technology just to keep him safe from harm. But, what of the fauna? Until when shall man set up zoos and other similar structures disguising the main problem? No! There are far better options than that. It’s true. Man has been put in charge of creation, considering the Biblical point of view, but I do feel that man has failed. Much as organizations like Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, National Environment Management Authority, National Forestry Authority among other National Implementing Authorities are in place, they have failed to fully carryout their duty. Well, they have done something, but, until when shall we keep on placing them in zoos and reserves. Even in game parks, the largest Fauna habitats such as Murchison Falls National Game Park, Queen Elizabeth National Game Park, Bwiindi Impenetrable National Game Park that were gazetted by government are no longer respected. A case and point is, the miing licences that have been granted in most of Uganda’s protected areas, including Bwiindi National Park, home to half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas (Global Witness 2017). With all that, shall the precious fauna have what they call home?
