Child Equal Opportunity Uganda

Child Equal Opportunity Uganda Child Equal Opportunity Uganda (CEOU) is a NGO based in Gulu in Northern Uganda. We predominantly work with the extended families.

Our aim is to support orphans and vulnerable children who often do not have the same opportunities in nutrition, education, medical care, rights, and respect as their peers. In Uganda, traditionally, the extended family assumes responsibility for the orphan. According to national statistics, one in four Ugandan households foster at least one orphan by providing for health, shelter, nutrition, educ

ation and other needs. These families, however, are often rather vulnerable themselves and an additional child often means an extra burden. Therefore, with our Family Empowerment Program, we support vulnerable households as we believe that a strong family unit with a caring adult is a prerequisite for the reintegration of orphans and other vulnerable children. Currently, CEOU runs projects in Gulu in Northern Uganda.
