Amani institute Uganda (AIU) is working to promote human rights, peace and justice through empowerment in Uganda .it was registered in 2013 as a think tank. AIU envisions a peaceful and prosperous people living in dignity and enjoying equal opportunities. Amani’s mission is to empower vulnerable and at risk individuals and groups to access justice and enjoy their human rights .AIU has six program
areas. JUVENILE JUSTICE INITIATIVE
This promotes child protection and justice for children in conflict with the law, and accountability for children in armed conflict through monitoring juvenile detention facilities, documentation, legal assistance, counselling, rehabilitations and advocacy
LEGAL DEFENSE INITIATIVE
Under this Amani Institute Uganda (AIU) seeks to protect human rights and promote access to justice through establishing legal defense fund, promoting rights awareness, provision of legal aids training and advocating alternative dispute resolution and restorative justice approach
RESOURCE GOVERNANCE INITIATIVE
Amani institute Uganda (AIU) encourages equitable resource justice and extractive industries, information sharing, documenting international best practice, promoting social corporate responsibilities, conflict sensitivity training and provision of early warning. CLIMATE CHANGE INITIATIVE
This program promote local adoption to climate change through environmental protection, prevention, research and building local capacity to understand and respond to climate change
LEADERSHIP FOR DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE
