Happy Women’s Day!
Women's Day serves as a testament of the hard work and dedication that all the women who came before me put in for me to be where I am today. It is a day where all South Africans can reflect on the current social climate of the country, in which women are still treated poorly compared to their male counterparts. Issues such as access to sanitary products, discrimination, gender-based violence and equal access to opportunities should be actively acted upon.
OWLAG has allowed me to be in a space where the power of women - from our founder to the kitchen staff - is recognised and celebrated on a daily basis. This day is an opportunity for me to take inspiration from all the phenomenal women and sisters around me, whilst celebrating the woman I am becoming.
