Welcoming Tomorrow's Football Stars to Kumalo Sports Academy! ⚽🌟

Talent knows no boundaries, and every child deserves an opportunity to grow, learn, and shine. At Nyero Foundation, we continue to identify and nurture promising young footballers across Northern Uganda through our Kumalo Sports Academy.

We are excited to welcome three outstanding young players from Young Star Academy, Lapingoloyo, who have joined Kumalo Sports Academy as part of our ongoing talent identification and development program:

⚽ Alio Bright (Left) – Form One, 12 years
⚽ Watmon Daniel (Center) – Primary Five, 10 years
⚽ Okello Sunday (Right) – Primary Seven, 13 years

These young athletes have shown exceptional talent, dedication, and passion for football. Their addition to Kumalo Sports Academy reflects our commitment to ensuring that gifted children, regardless of their background, have access to quality coaching, mentorship, education, and opportunities to reach their full potential.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the management of Young Star Academy, Lapingoloyo, for their trust, cooperation, and commitment to the development of these young players. Partnerships built on a shared vision are essential in creating more opportunities for talented children to reach their full potential.

To Bright, Daniel, and Sunday, welcome to the Kumalo Sports family. We look forward to supporting your journey both on the football pitch and in the classroom.
Together, we are building the future of football in Northern Uganda, one child at a time.

Yesterday, We were honored to host Mr. Mbuga Swaibu, the Games and Sports Teacher at Juliana Junior School, for a courtesy visit to our office. During the visit, Mr. Mbuga (in the yellow jacket) had the opportunity to meet the mother of one of our beneficiaries, Rubangankene Ronnie, a Primary Five pupil at Juliana Junior School.

The interaction highlighted the important role that families, schools, and community organizations play in nurturing the next generation of student-athletes. Mr. Mbuga expressed appreciation for the efforts Nyero Foundation is making in moulding student-athletes into responsible citizens while contributing to the growth and improvement of football standards in Northern Uganda. He also commended our pupils for their remarkable discipline and hard work, noting that these qualities are essential for success both in academics and sports.

He further pledged continued support for the Foundation's initiatives aimed at empowering young people through education and athletics, emphasizing that, regardless of sporting talent, education remains the foundation for a brighter future. Encouraging learners to pursue academics alongside sports ensures they are equipped with the knowledge, discipline, and life skills needed to succeed both on and off the field.

At Nyero Foundation, we strongly believe that sports and education should go hand in hand. Through our scholarship and mentorship initiatives, we remain committed to supporting young athletes as they develop their talents while staying focused on their studies.

We thank Mr. Mbuga and Juliana Junior School for their continued encouragement and shared commitment to empowering children through education and sports.

At Nyero Foundation, we believe that talent, determination, and education can transform lives regardless of one’s background. Today, we are proud to introduce one of our beneficiaries, Rubangakene Ronnie, a promising young footballer and student whose story is a true inspiration to many children in Northern Uganda.

Born on 14 May 2012, Ronnie is a pupil at Juliana Junior School, Wakiso and currently studies in Primary Five. He comes from a family of four that is supported by his mother, a hardworking casual labourer who strives every day to provide for her children.

Despite the challenges associated with his disadvantaged family background, Ronnie has refused to let circumstances define his future. Instead, he has chosen to pursue both his football talent and his academic goals with remarkable commitment and discipline.

On the football field, Ronnie has demonstrated passion, determination, and a strong desire to improve. Through the support of Nyero Foundation, he continues to develop his skills and gain exposure that will help him grow as a young athlete.

Equally important, Ronnie remains focused on his education. He dreams of becoming an accountant, believing that academic success will provide him with the opportunity to support his family and contribute positively to his community. His dedication to balancing sports and education reflects the values that Nyero Foundation seeks to promote among young people.

Nyero Foundation is honored to walk this journey with Ronnie and many other talented children across Northern Uganda, we remain committed to helping young people unlock their potential and build brighter futures.

We are proud of the outstanding participation of Kumalo Sports Academy, our community football academy in the Gulu Sixth Division League, which kicked off on 8th May 2026 and concluded its first leg on 10th May 2026.
The academy showcased remarkable determination, discipline, teamwork, and footballing talent throughout the competition, finishing the first leg at the top of the league table with an impressive 16 points as the team now prepares for the second leg next weekend.
The team comprised talented players from our partner schools, St. Joseph's College Layibi and Bethel Secondary School Amuru, alongside some of the most gifted young footballers from communities across Gulu City. This blend of school-based and community talent reflects our vision of creating opportunities for young people through sports while encouraging them to remain committed to education and personal growth.
This achievement is a testament to the hard work of the players, coaches, management, schools, and the wider community that continues to support youth development through football.
We congratulate the entire Kumalo Sports Academy family on this strong start and wish the team continued success in the upcoming fixtures.

Throwback to a powerful moment of recognition

We are proud to revisit this video featuring a FUFA G4 Scout recommending the Kumalo Sports League, a growing football initiative by Nyero Foundation.
The Kumalo Sports League is more than just football. It is a platform for promoting education, inclusion, mentorship, and opportunity, bringing together over 284 children every Sunday, especially during school holidays.
What makes it truly special is its diversity, uniting both boys and girls, including refugee children from South Sudan, in a safe and empowering environment where every child belongs.
Through competitions in U10, U13, and U16 categories, these young players are not only developing their football talents but also receiving mentorship that encourages them to stay in school and focus on their education.
This is how we build futures, through sport, guidance, and community.

In this video, FUFA G4 scout Papira Anthony discusses how the Kumalo Sports League by Nyero Foundation perfectly aligns with FUFA's mission to develop and n...

Reflecting on a Successful 2025.

As we closed the chapter on 2025, we look back with pride and gratitude at a truly impactful year for Nyero Foundation.
One of our biggest highlights was the outstanding triumph of Kumalo Sports Club, crowned champions of the 2024/2025 Gulu District Fourth Division League. This achievement goes beyond football, it represents hope, discipline, teamwork, and the power of investing in young talent through sports and education.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our stakeholders, partners, coaches, volunteers, parents, and supporters who stood with us every step of the journey. Special thanks to our incredible fans whose unwavering support on and off the pitch kept the team motivated throughout the season.
As we look ahead, we are inspired to do even more. 2026 brings new goals, bigger dreams, and a renewed commitment to shaping a brighter future for children and youth in Northern Uganda.
Thank you for believing in the mission. Together, we move forward. 💚⚽📚

Appreciation Post
____________________________________
As we reflect on the year 2025, Nyero Foundation would like to sincerely appreciate our valued partners and stakeholders, with special recognition to Bethel Secondary School, Amuru and Kims Christian School, Amuru, for their continued collaboration and support.

Through our shared commitment to education and child development, we achieved meaningful milestones:

At Kims Christian School (Amuru), 7 out of 18 pupils successfully completed their primary education.

At Bethel Secondary School, Amuru, 2 out of 24 students completed their secondary education in 2025.

We are deeply humbled by the collective effort of all stakeholders whose support made it possible for Nyero Foundation to provide scholarship support to over 86 pupils and students across primary, secondary, and institutional studies last year. These outcomes reflect the power of partnerships that prioritize long-term impact over short-term gains.

As a Community-Based Organization rooted in Pece Laroo Division, we remain committed to expanding access to education and nurturing talent through sports and academics.

Looking ahead to 2026, we are energized to scale our impact, strengthen partnerships, and reach even more learners.

Thank you for believing in our mission and investing in the future.
