Transforming Communities Through Faith, Leadership & Livelihoods

In April 2026, we had the privilege of conducting the CSCG Discipleship Training across Rhino Camp, Imvepi, and Mijale—bringing together church leaders, community disciples-makers, and savings group leaders with one shared purpose: to build stronger, faith-driven communities in refugee settlements.

Over the course of multiple sessions, 181 leaders—including pastors, CSCGs chairpersons, CSCGs secretaries, CPFs, and lay readers—were equipped with practical, biblically grounded skills to strengthen both their spiritual leadership and community impact.
This wasn’t just a training. It was a movement of transformation.

We focused on real-life application of core values that communities need most:
• Biblical leadership that inspires action
• Stewardship that promotes accountability
• Integrity that builds trust
• Generosity and compassion that restore dignity
• Hope that sustains communities even in hardship
• The role of the church in community building

By integrating discipleship with livelihood (CSCG savings groups), we are seeing a powerful model emerge—where spiritual growth and economic resilience go hand in hand.

From Rhino Camp to Imvepi to Mijale, the energy was undeniable.
Participants didn’t just listen—they engaged, reflected, and committed to taking these lessons back to their groups and churches.

One participant shared:
“This training has not only changed my life, but I will use the skills and knowledge acquired to change my community too.”

Another added:
“We have been challenged to go and share what we learned in our groups—this will strengthen our Bible study and our saving culture.”

Key Outcomes:
• Increased capacity in leadership, stewardship, and community engagement
• Strengthened role of the church in refugee community development
• Renewed commitment to integrity, generosity, and hope
• Empowered leaders ready to disciple others

Of course, we also listened and learned. Participants called for longer training periods, language inclusivity, and continued support—valuable insights that will shape our next phase.

In humanitarian settings, the church remains a powerful pillar of hope. By investing in leaders, we are investing in resilient families, stronger savings groups, and transformed communities.

This is how change happens—one leader, one group, one community at a time.

We are deeply grateful to our dedicated facilitators and every participant who made this journey meaningful. The work continues.

Impacting 3,230 Children with Hope This Easter!

From 2nd – 6th April 2026, we carried out Easter Party Clubs across Rhino Camp and Imvepi Refugee Settlements — creating safe, joyful spaces where children encountered love, hope, and purpose.

For many children in refugee communities, opportunities for spiritual growth, mentorship, and joyful learning are limited. Through these clubs, we shared a simple but powerful message: “Jesus Gives Life and Hope.”

Our Impact at a Glance
• 51 Easter Party Clubs conducted
• 3,230 children reached
• 412 children made decisions to follow Christ
Breakdown
• Imvepi: 33 clubs | 1,803 children | 188 saved
• Rhino Camp: 18 clubs | 1,427 children | 224 saved
These are not just numbers — they represent lives touched, hope restored, and futures redirected.

Each session combined:
• Joyful songs and fellowship
• Bible teaching (John 11 – Jesus, the Resurrection and Life)
• Memory verses that children carry with them
• Games that build confidence, teamwork, and belonging
Because of the support received, children are not only learning — they are thriving.
• Footballs are bringing children together, increasing attendance and joy
• Repaired bicycles are helping volunteers reach more children across vast settlements

This impact was made possible through the support of partners and well-wishers who believe in investing in children’s lives.

We are looking for partners to help us:
• Reach more children in underserved communities
• Equip volunteers with teaching and play materials
• Provide safe, consistent spaces for children to learn and grow

Let’s continue bringing hope, joy, and transformation to children who need it most.

Success Story | Restoring Hope Through Learning in Refugee Schools (March 2026)

From 17th to 20th March 2026, CRESS Africa Foundation carried out a targeted distribution of scholastic materials across Imvepi and Rhino Camp Refugee Settlements, reaching some of the most underserved learning environments. At a time when funding cuts have forced many education partners to withdraw, this intervention came as a timely lifeline—restoring both the tools for learning and the hope of continuity in education.

Impact at a Glance
• 20 schools reached (12 in Imvepi, 8 in Rhino Camp), supporting over 18,098 learners
• 160 boxes of chalk distributed
• 20 boxes of red pens distributed
• 12 primary schools and 8 ECD centres benefited

In many of these schools, chalk is not just a supply—it is the foundation of teaching. Without it, lessons cannot be delivered. Red pens, equally essential, enable teachers to assess and guide learners effectively. With many trained teachers leaving due to lack of pay and limited instructional materials available, even the smallest support creates a ripple effect.

As one Head Teacher shared:
"The chalk provided has greatly supported our teachers in effectively delivering lessons… Your support continues to make a meaningful impact on both teaching and learning processes."

This initiative did more than deliver supplies—it strengthened trust and partnership with school communities. Through ongoing engagement, including weekly discipleship programs, children are not only learning academically but also growing in character and values.

Another Deputy Head Teacher noted:
"This holistic support is improving academic outcomes while nurturing moral and spiritual development."

Despite this progress, critical gaps remain:
• Severe teacher shortages (some schools have over 1,000 pupils with fewer than 10 teachers)
• Declining school attendance due to the inability to pay PTA fees
• Lack of feeding programs, especially in ECD centres
• Shortage of basic instructional materials (books, registers, markers, etc.)

This success demonstrates that small, targeted interventions can sustain entire learning systems. However, long-term impact requires collective action:
• Investment in learning materials and infrastructure
• Support for teacher training and salaries
• Revival of school feeding programs to improve attendance
• Strengthening community-led education systems

This initiative reaffirmed a simple but powerful truth: when teachers are equipped, children learn; when children learn, hope is restored.

CRESS Africa Foundation remains committed to walking alongside refugee communities—ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, has access to quality, dignified education.

Celebrating Women Who Build Nations – International Women’s Day 2026

Today, 10th March 2026, staff of CRESS Africa Foundation (CAF) proudly joined the community of Katrini Sub County in Terego District to celebrate International Women’s Day alongside refugees, women, and girls who continue to shape and strengthen our communities.

This year’s theme, “Scaling Up Investment to Accelerate Justice for All Women and Girls in Uganda,” reminds us that empowering women is not just a moral responsibility—it is a pathway to sustainable development and stronger societies.

The celebration was graced by the Woman Member of Parliament for Terego District, highlighting the importance of leadership, advocacy, and collective action in advancing gender equality.

Across families, communities, and institutions, women continue to demonstrate resilience, leadership, and dedication in driving social and economic transformation.

At CRESS Africa Foundation, we remain committed to women’s economic empowerment through our Community Savings and Credit Groups operating in Kerwa Sub County, Imvepi, and Rhino Camp.

Through over 70 savings groups, we are supporting more than 2,000 women to build financial resilience, grow small businesses, and strengthen their families and communities.
These women are not only saving money—they are building confidence, leadership, and hope for the next generation.

What concrete action will you take this year to invest in the empowerment of women and girls in your community?
Because when we invest in women, we invest in the future.

CRESS AFRICA FOUNDATION UCE 2025 CANDIDATES EXCEL

At CRESS Africa Foundation, we believe that education is the most powerful tool for transforming lives—and today, we proudly celebrate a remarkable milestone.

In 2025, we supported and registered seven students to sit for the UCE examinations. Throughout their journey, we walked closely with them, providing holistic support including school fees, candidate registration, coaching, mentorship, and exposure through school tours. Our goal was simple: to give them every opportunity to succeed and unlock their full potential.

By God’s grace, all seven candidates excelled and attained Result One, qualifying for their certificates. This achievement is a powerful testimony of resilience, hard work, and determination in the face of challenges. It also reflects the impact of consistent mentorship and community support.

We are especially proud of our top-performing students:

Juan Susan Nelson from Budo Secondary School, Wakiso, who scored 1 A, 8 Bs, and 1 C. Juan dreams of pursuing Physics, Economics, and Mathematics at A-Level and becoming a software engineer. She is passionate about using technology to solve real-life challenges in her community.

Milyan Emmanuel Edward from Usindi Secondary School, Arua, who achieved 10 Bs. He has secured admission to Mvara Secondary School, Arua, where he will study Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. His vision is to become a medical doctor and improve healthcare in underserved communities.

We thank God for this incredible success and extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our sponsors and partners. Your trust, generosity, and belief in our mission continue to open doors of opportunity for refugee and vulnerable children.

Together, we are not only educating young people—we are shaping future leaders, innovators, and change-makers.

Let us continue to invest in education and transform more lives.

Juru Peresis’ Success Story – From Displacement to Sustainable Livelihood

Juru Peresi left South Sudan in 2016 following the outbreak of civil war and sought refuge in Uganda with her family. They settled in Mijale, hoping to rebuild their lives in safety. Like many refugee families, Juru faced significant challenges in meeting basic needs, including food, healthcare, and education for her six children, due to limited income opportunities in a new environment.

A turning point came when Juru learned about Sadia A Community Savings and Credit Group (CSCG) supported by CRESS Africa Foundation (CAF), from a friend. She joined the group to strengthen her financial stability through regular savings and support. Participation in the CSCG helped Juru build financial discipline, confidence, and a clear plan for improving her household’s well-being.

In 2024, Juru saved UGX 850,000, which she received during the CSCG share-out at the end of the savings cycle. She invested UGX 400,000 of this amount in a layer poultry business, starting with 30 birds. Despite losing 5, 25 birds survived and began laying eggs, providing Juru with a steady income to support her family and maintain consistent savings.

In 2025, Juru sold the layer birds and earned UGX 1,600,000, which she planned to reinvest in a more sustainable income-generating activity. In the same year, her continued commitment to saving enabled her to accumulate UGX 1,560,000, received at the end of the CSCG cycle.

By combining her savings and business income, Juru invested UGX 4,000,000 in a paste grinding machine. This investment was driven by strong local demand, as the Mijale center serves a large population with limited access to such services. The business now provides Juru with a reliable income to support her ongoing savings and improve her family’s living conditions.

Looking ahead to 2026, Juru aims to save towards building a permanent house for her family. Her story highlights the role of CSCGs in empowering refugee women to transition from dependency to self-reliance through savings-led entrepreneurship.

From Sponsored Child to Aspiring Advocate: The Inspiring Journey of Poni Sylvia

Education is not a single event but a lifelong journey that requires consistency, commitment, and belief. Poni Sylvia’s story beautifully demonstrates how sustained support can transform potential into purpose. As one of the longest-serving beneficiaries of CRESS Africa Foundation, Sylvia received holistic education sponsorship from primary school through secondary education and into higher learning, ensuring that financial barriers never silenced her dreams.

With this steady support, Sylvia pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Law at Mount Kenya University, a demanding four-year program that required resilience and discipline. Her perseverance paid off when she graduated with Second Class Honors, marking a major milestone in her academic journey.

Today, Sylvia is in Nairobi gaining practical experience at a law firm as she awaits her practicing license. To support her transition into professional practice, CRESS Africa Foundation provided her with a laptop—an essential tool for legal research and documentation. Sylvia’s journey reflects the true power of long-term investment in education: shaping confident professionals ready to serve society with integrity and purpose.

From Almost Giving Up to First Grade: Ruba Comfort Moses Excelled in PLE 2025

Ruba Comfort Moses, a refugee girl from Rhino Camp, is a powerful example of how education sponsorship can transform lives. In 2025, she was among three learners supported by CRESS Africa Foundation to sit for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). While all performed well, one first-grade and two second-grade pupils, Ruba's stories stand out because of the obstacles she overcame to achieve a first grade with 12 aggregates and emerged as the best overall pupil in our program.

Earlier in the year, Ruba’s academic journey was uncertain. Her mock exam results were discouraging, and limited resources threatened to derail her education. Her mother, Dusman Viola, could not afford holiday coaching or textbooks—both critical to exam preparation. Facing this challenge, she reached out to CRESS Africa Foundation for help.

The CRESS Africa Foundation responded promptly, covering Ruba’s holiday classes and providing essential learning materials. With renewed confidence and support, Ruba committed herself fully to her studies, working harder than ever before. Her determination paid off when the PLE 2025 results were released, earning her an outstanding first grade that surprised her teachers, family, and community.

Ruba credits her success to hard work and the desire to make her mother and sponsors proud. Today, she dreams of becoming a medical doctor and is preparing to join Ediofe Girls’ Secondary School in Arua. Grateful for the seven years of support from CRESS Africa Foundation, Ruba’s story reminds us that when determination meets timely support, education becomes a pathway to hope, purpose, and a brighter future.

The training focused on strengthening biblical leadership, discipleship, stewardship, and Christian spiritual care, while deepening the role of the church in community engagement and collaboration. It also provided a safe space for learning, reflection, and peer support, equipping leaders to respond to both the spiritual and psychosocial needs of their congregations.

Participants engaged in practical, participatory, and biblically grounded sessions on:
• Foundations of Biblical Leadership
• Stewardship and Church Growth
• Christian Life and Christian Worship
• Integrity and the Seed of Hope
• Generosity, Compassion, and the Church’s Role in Community Engagement

A total of 19 pastors, evangelists, and lay readers were equipped with renewed understanding and practical skills in leadership, integrity, hope, stewardship, and community building.

We sincerely appreciate the dedication and collaboration of the facilitators: Mr. Murye Scopas, Rev. Scopas Bullen, Rev. Francis Amule, Rev. Baraka Emmanuel, and Rev. Rejoyce Wilson.

CRESS Africa Foundation Supported Pastoral Ministry in Yumbe District

CRESS Africa Foundation is honoured to support Reverend Dima Moses with a bicycle to strengthen his pastoral ministry in Kerwa Sub-County, Yumbe District. Serving scattered and hard-to-reach communities, Reverend Dima often walks long distances to reach congregations, visit the sick, counsel families, and conduct prayers and outreaches.

The bicycle has become a vital tool enabling him to travel farther, faster, and more consistently. It reduces travel time and fatigue, allowing him to serve multiple villages in a single day and respond promptly to pastoral needs. Beyond mobility, the bicycle enhances dignity, safety, and reliability in ministry.

This support reflects CRESS Africa Foundation’s commitment to practical solutions that empower community leaders to serve effectively. By strengthening pastoral outreach, we are helping build resilient, values-driven communities rooted in faith, compassion, and hope.
Partner with us to equip local leaders with simple tools that create lasting impact.
