FoG was formed in May 2010, but the idea came about as a result of internally displaced peoples camp (IDPs) during rebel’
s activities when the labels attacked one of the camps and killed over 700 civilians in 2001. That ‘something’ led to the birth of ‘Friends of Goodwill’ (FOG) in 2010. The idea was simple – a few friends making the public know the power of friendship in doing charity work by using entertainment and sports (e.g. comedy and football) to raise funds in order to help orphans and people in desperate need. As well as doing something about the very real and direct education support and sustainable development in orphans’ families in Apac, FoG is determined to help tackle the broader needs of disadvantage poor in Apac district and surrounding areas. FOG is working tirelessly to support some of the poorest orphans and will support most disadvantaged widows in the Apac and the surrounding districts in Northern Uganda. Our long-term aim and objective is to bring about real and lasting change by supporting orphans education and tackling the root causes of poverty and social injustice, rather than simply treating the symptoms.
