Yesterday, October 16, 2025, I AM PEACE supported by the South Sudan Peace and Reconciliation Commission and IGAD (Conflict Early Warning and Response Network) hosted the Youth Leaders of Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) and Jonglei State in a Creative Peace Camp Dialogue under the theme "Peace Beyond Borders" at NOTOs Art Centre.
The discussion with youth leaders from Jonglei and Greater Pibor (GPAA) was powerful, revealing a stark reality that while violence occurs in the grassroots, the fuel and finance for conflict often originate in urban centers like Juba.

As the dry season approaches, the responsibility lies with urban leaders to shift from incitement to mitigation. This requires immediate action to cease all financial and social support that enables the illegal arms trade, to actively use digital influence to counter misinformation and hate speech, and for educated youth to commit to inclusive leadership in rural areas without fueling resentment.

Such discussions steer positive steps towards holding leaders accountable and taking individual actions to combat violence.

SOT SALAAM – The Voice of Peace

Earlier this year, I AM PEACE with support from FCA South Sudan brought together creatives together to reflect on their role in shaping narratives and promoting harmony with focus on conflict sensitivity. In today’s world, where misinformation spreads fast and can fuel conflict, artists have the power to turn the tide — becoming true voices of peace when given the right tools.

Out of this gathering came “Sot Salaam”, which means Voice of Peace. Created by artists who are now I AM PEACE Ambassadors, the song brings together talents from different regions of South Sudan, uniting their voices to remind us that peace is possible when we stand as one.

The audio of Sot Salaam will be released this weekend, while the video will premiere during our upcoming Peace Camp in September. Get ready to be inspired by this anthem of unity and hope!

Yesterday 15th June 2025, we started the shoot for the Sot Salaam - Demunu music video (enclosed session).

South Sudanese creatives and artists continue to ASK for clarity on the some of violent conflicts happening across the country. "Who wants to spoil our home?".

They also provide hope and influence their communities to be agents of peace and social cohesion by being conflict sensitive. Shunning hate speech, stopping the spread of fake news and calling out people and actions undermining peace in South Sudan.

The music shoot continues this week....

We recently concluded a three-day boot camp focused on engaging the creative industry in peacebuilding efforts. Recognizing the significant influence of creatives, our discussions centered on fostering social cohesion, combating misinformation, and promoting critical thinking within communities. This initiative underscores our commitment to broadening the base of peace advocates and leveraging the power of creative expression for a more unified and peaceful South Sudan.

A massive shoutout and heartfelt thanks to the incredible South Sudanese artists who lent their voices in this peace song.
We're so grateful for your participation in recording Sot Salam - de Munu.
This powerful song tackles some tough questions: Who is trying to destabilize our beloved South Sudan? Who bears responsibility for the ongoing crises? It also addresses the critical issue of misinformation plaguing our nation.

Sot Salaam (De Munu) is a call to action, urging all South Sudanese to embrace unity and live together in peace.
We are deeply appreciative of the 12 talented artists who poured their hearts into crafting this vital message. Let's all listen closely to the words and remember that we are the change we seek.

In these turbulent times, South Sudan needs voices of peace, not division. We've seen a surge of social media commentary on the conflicts in Nasir, Western Equatoria, and other areas. While government and other interventions are crucial, we believe in the power of unity. That's why we're bringing together South Sudanese artists for an All-Star song, to amplify the call for peace.

Huge thanks to Alijoma Mabil , MT7 Degreez , Hardlife Avenue Stars Franko Lokunyumi Suzy nadu LORD GEE SOUTH SUDAN for accepting to be part of this initiative! We await confirmation from other artists as well.

We urge everyone to reduce escalation on social media and call on our government and armed groups to cease hostilities. Let's work towards stability and growth for our nation.
