PROJECT LAUNCH UPDATE | SPEAK Uganda

On 12th January 2026, successfully held an Inception Meeting at our office in Ayilo 1 Refugee Settlement, marking the official start of our new project:

Sustainable Help Through Advocacy, Resilience & Empowerment (SHARE)

The meeting brought together both the refugee and host stakeholders, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), LC 1 Chairperson, Camp chairman and the community members, creating a strong platform for dialogue, collaboration, and shared commitment to community development.

This project aims to promote and enhance agricultural productivity and sustainable livelihoods for both host and refugee communities through advocacy, inclusive dialogue, and shared opportunities. By working together, we seek to strengthen resilience, improve food security, and empower diverse communities to grow and thrive side by side.

We are deeply grateful to our funding partner, Refugee Led Organization Network-Uganda (RELON), for believing in this vision and supporting community-driven solutions.

Together, we are planting the seeds for a more resilient, empowered, and united future.

EMPOWERED WOMEN, SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY!

We are delighted to share that Uganda has received valuable support from through Business for Better Society, enabling us to strengthen our young mothers ' skills and knowledge as they have been attending a couple of weeks learning in Ayilo 1 Refugee settlement. We believe that the tailoring initiative will create more opportunities, restoring hope, and improve life standards among the devastated refugee communities.

Through this assistance, We donated them with sewing machines, clothing materials, and other essential tailoring items to the five women, who have been undergoing training for nearly a month. These dedicated women are learning practical skills that will help them become self-reliant, improve their livelihoods and support their families within the refugee community.

This program is more than training; it's a bridge to dignity, independence, and long term empowerment.

Finally, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to and Business for Better Society for being behind this great job, and believing in the potential of refugee women.

It's always our pride seeing youth engaged in sports and other relevant activities that foster unity and promote one's talent.
Recently in Ayilo 1 refugee resettlement, our team organized football matches and dialogues that drew a huge attendance as both young men and women from the host and refugee communities showed up a remarkable display of team work and enthusiasm

In alignment with our vision of inclusiveness, we firmly uphold the principle that no one should be left behind. Every individual deserves the opportunity to participate, contribute, and discover their potentialities.
Through initiatives such as this, we contribute to embracing stronger community ties, promote gender equality, and create spaces where everyone feels respected and valued.

Finally, we extend our sincere appreciation to our friend Simon Combe, partners and supporters whose dedication and cooperation made this event a success! Together, we are not merely playing the game instead we redefine it as a tool of shaping a more united and inclusive society.

Meet Anyang Kuol a resilient mother and farmer, and one of 12 incredible refugee women we’re walking alongside on a journey of dignity and self-reliance. Like many, Anyang was hit hard by the food ration cuts, her dreams of feeding her children through farming dimmed by a lack of seeds, tools, and most of all land.
But today, that story is changing.
With generous support from Little Big Fund and Athari Group, we have been able to hire land provide them with tools and seeds. Now hopes are high that the season will be a blessed one and that they can reap from their hard work. We are proud to be part of their incredible journey. Thanks to everyone that has supported us to help these amazing, resilient mothers. — unlocking their potential to grow food, nourish their families, and earn a living in the face of rising food insecurity.
This is more than farming. This is reclaiming agency. This is resilience blooming from the soil.

On the 27th March, we were honored to host the recent Mental Health, Peaceful Coexistence, and Youth Engagement Sub-Working Group meeting, co-chaired by UNHCR and the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) at our office in Ayilo I settlement. This important discussion brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the District Local Government, humanitarian agencies, and local community leaders, to reflect on pressing concerns in Adjumani.

Key issues highlighted included the rise in su***de cases, escalating conflicts among youth, and increasing substance abuse among school-going children. As a team, we developed a strategic roadmap to address these challenges, ensuring a coordinated and effective response with the support of all partners.

We extend our sincere appreciation to UNHCR, OPM, and all our partners for their commitment to fostering inclusive, community-driven solutions. Hosting this meeting as Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) is a testament to the true spirit of localization, demonstrating that RLOs are not only active participants but also capable leaders in shaping the future of refugee response.
