У межах проєкту “Afterschool Geekery” вже півтора року в селі Тур’я-Пасіка (а також у багатьох інших локаціях, про які розповімо згодом) проводяться заняття для дітей із малозабезпечених ромських сімей.
На цих заняттях діти опановують айті-грамотність через програму Scratch. Наші ментори, які пройшли навчання та отримали сертифікацію, з любов’ю та старанням передають дітям нові знання.
Цей проєкт важливий тим, що діти з малозабезпечених ромських родин, які не мають можливості придбати комп’ютер додому, можуть відвідувати заняття, вчитися цифрової грамотності, а також розвивати дрібну моторику, навички читання та письма, друкування і базової арифметики.
Окрім програмування, ментор проводить із дітьми дружні бесіди — це безпечний і комфортний простір, де вони можуть відкриватися, ділитися своїми історіями та просто відчувати себе почутими. Ментор виступає не лише в ролі вчителя, а й підтримуючого дорослого: заспокоїть, обійме, підкаже, підтримає та подарує трішки любові.

As part of the “Afterschool Geekery” project, classes for children from low-income Roma families have been held for a year and a half in the village of Turya-Pasika (as well as in many other locations that we will talk about later).
During these classes, children learn digital literacy through the Scratch program. Our mentors, who have completed training and received certification, share their knowledge with care, dedication, and sincerity.
This project is especially important because children from low-income Roma families, who cannot afford a computer at home, can attend these lessons and learn digital skills, as well as develop fine motor skills, reading and typing abilities, and basic arithmetic.
In addition to programming, the mentor also holds friendly conversations with the children — creating a safe and comfortable space where they can open up, share meaningful stories, and simply feel supported. The mentor acts not only as a teacher but also as a trusted adult: someone who can comfort them, give a hug, offer advice, and show kindness.
