These days we hosted our first strategic session bringing together representatives of jazz venues, festivals, and organizations from five Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Lviv, Rivne, Chernihiv, and Ternopil.

Together we brainstormed the current state of jazz infrastructure in each city, explored our collective strengths, and discussed how we can become stronger and more effective through collaboration.

Because a network is ultimately about people - inspired by shared ideas and united by a passion for jazz.

More to come!

We’re proud to highlight a powerful new interview by Ukrainian music media The Claquers featuring Yevhenii Dubovyk — pianist, composer, producer, and one of the most versatile voices of the new Ukrainian jazz generation.

A big thanks for spotlighting the establishment of the Ukrainian Jazz Network and emphasizing the importance of building a national network, strengthening music infrastructure, and connecting Ukrainian jazz to the European scene.

Beyond this, Yevhenii reflects on the transformation of Ukraine’s jazz community, his genre-crossing projects (from fusion and neo-soul to prog rock and game soundtracks), and the urgent need for stronger music management education.

Oleksandr Seleznov (Ukrainian drummer and musician) had been following the Ukrainian Akademik Vernadsky research station for a long time. One day, he noticed a post about their vinyl library - a collection that began back when the station belonged to Great Britain.

That’s when a simple thought appeared: what if his own record could one day be played there?

There’s a quiet symbolism in this - the cover of Oleksandr’s album features ice.

A few months ago, he decided to take a chance, wrote to the station, and sent his vinyl to the polar researchers.
Today, he received a video of his record being played in Antarctica 🔥

The feeling, Oleksandr says, is as if the music had been played somewhere in open space.
It might be one of the first Ukrainian jazz vinyl records ever played on the ice continent.

Thank you for supporting Ukrainian jazz, special thanks to Anna for helping make this happen, and heartfelt thanks to and the entire team behind the album.

🎶 Oleksandr Seleznov “The Story Goes On” - melodic jazz-fusion album with powerful drums, elegant guitar lines, virtuosic saxophone, cosmic synths, and a groovy bass.
