Thanks to a generous grant of €2,100 from Lions Club Reng Hollviken, Sweden, Національний науковий центр радіаційної медицини, гематології та онкології has successfully integrated and commissioned its backup generator into the facility's main electrical grid.

​Key Achievements

• ​Critical Components Procured: Acquired high-capacity transfer switches, circuit breakers, and grounding materials required for safe, high-load medical power distribution.

• ​Seamless Installation: Certified electrical engineers from the hospital integrated the generator with the hospital’s primary distribution panel, implementing an automatic transfer system to minimize transition delays during outages.

• ​Uninterrupted Patient Care: The facility can now maintain continuous operation of critical diagnostic equipment—including X-ray and CT scanning units—ensuring patient treatments and emergency procedures proceed without interruption during municipal power disruptions.

​The management, medical staff, and patients extend their deepest gratitude to our Swedish Lions partners for their timely solidarity and vital support in keeping essential healthcare running.

Car To Medics project completed!

We are military medics, and our medical company is part of a reconnaissance regiment. Our mission is simple but vital: to save the lives of our servicemen. We must evacuate the wounded as quickly as possible, provide essential first aid, and ensure that they reach a hospital in time to receive the treatment they need.

Military medics are often among the enemy’s primary targets, which means our vehicles are frequently damaged or put out of service. Reliable transportation is therefore not simply a matter of convenience for us — it can mean the difference between life and death.

We are deeply and sincerely grateful to Lion H, from Belgium, a Kyiv Lions Club member who prefers to stay anonymous, for the car which you provided. Your generosity and support mean an enormous amount to our medical team and, most importantly, to the soldiers whose lives we are fighting to save.

This vehicle will help us reach wounded servicemen, evacuate them safely, and give them a better chance of surviving their injuries. We are certain that it will help save not just one life, but many lives of our defenders.

€10,000 from the The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) is helping Ukrainian ophthalmologists save sight and restore hope for wounded Ukrainian servicemen. 🇺🇦

In response to an urgent request from the hospital, these funds were used to purchase critical supplies for vitreoretinal and ophthalmic surgery, including Bausch + Lomb vitrectomy packs, perfluorocarbon liquids, and viscoelastic agents.

For patients suffering from severe and complex eye injuries, access to these specialized materials can make the difference between permanent loss of vision and the chance to see again.

Behind every injured eye is a person, a story, a family — and a future that deserves to be protected. With the right surgical equipment and the dedication of skilled Ukrainian ophthalmologists, precious vision can be preserved and lives can be changed.

Kyiv Lions have received and distributed a massive shipment of animal food donated by Dogs Trust and Cardiff for Ukraine. The project was organized by Lorraine Staniek from North Cotswolds Rotary, UK.

​Thanks to the dedicated volunteer Julia Fisovna from community, the animal food reached 76 dogs, 130 cats and 2 birds in 5 animal rescue centers.

• ​Svitlana’s Shelter: Evacuated from Kramatorsk, now relocated near Vasylkiv.

• ​Inna’s Shelter: Evacuated from Yurkivka, Zaporizhzhia region, now operating near Bila Tserkva.

• ​Industrial Zone Pack: Stray dogs under the care in an industrial area near Kyiv, who received their supply last week.

• ​Olya’s 30 Dogs: Rescued animals hosted in Mytnytsia, Vasylkiv community.

• ​Evacuated Foster Dogs: Animals saved from various conflict zones currently staying in home foster care.
​Operating during wartime means navigating extreme hardship. On the most dangerous days, volunteers rush to feed the animals in brief windows between attacks. Many of these relocated shelters run on next to nothing, lacking even basic resources to build proper enclosures for the dogs.

A special thank you goes to Chris Monks , who transported these vital supplies overland by van that he brought to our defenders. Christopher’s commitment to Ukraine has been truly extraordinary. To date, he has personally delivered 47 vehicles for our military, supporting the evacuation of the wounded, assisting civilians, and helping to save countless lives.

This vital support from Lorraine and North Cotswolds Rotary Club, Dogs Trust and Cardiff for Ukraine and Chris provides more than just nourishment—it gives these animals a fighting chance while our rescuers work tirelessly under unimaginable conditions. Standing side by side with our partners, no matter the obstacles. 💛💙

​On August 30th, Kyiv Lions Club members Bob and Lina traveled to the Zhytomyr region to represent our club at an event hosted by our partner organization, Житомирська міська дитяча громадська організація "Все робимо самі" (We Do Everything Ourselves).

​Despite severe attacks and significant damage along the Kyiv–Zhytomyr highway that stretched their journey to over five hours, their determination never wavered.

• ​Direct Support: Bob and Lina delivered another shipment of clothing and diapers, generously provided by our friends from the Netherlands. To date, the Kyiv Lions Club has delivered over five full trucks of humanitarian aid to this organization, thanks to our incredible partners in the Netherlands, France and UK.

• ​The Power of Presence: True partnership goes beyond logistics. Being physically present at their community resilience event sent a clear message: we stand with you through every challenge.
​This visit showed the local community that regardless of attacks and hardship, we remain united, resilient, and committed to rebuilding together.

​A two-year-old girl injured today in a Russian drone strike on Kyiv has died. A child born during the defense never saw a peaceful life because Russia took everything away.

​Another girl, 14 years old, was killed today in the Kyiv region by a Russian strike on a dormitory where her family lived.

​There are already 37 dead in the village of Myla near Kyiv. The Russian strike destroyed dozens of homes here and a nursing home where 45 people lived…

​For over 60 hours, Russia has been attacking Kyiv non-stop. The city and suburbs are covered in clouds of acrid smoke. It is hard to breathe.
​Beyond peaceful civilians and children, the attackers are trying to destroy food supplies and access to them—they bombed UNICEF humanitarian warehouses and most of the warehouses belonging to major Ukrainian supermarket chains.

​Meanwhile, Ukrainian cities are burying those killed by Russian strikes in recent days: in Chernihiv, they said goodbye to another little girl, four-year-old Zhanna, and her mother Olena, whom a Russian drone killed in their home. Once again, a child and a mother. Again.

​Russia, its regime, and all executors of criminal orders do not need a specific region or its resources. They want Ukrainians to simply cease to exist. They want a scorched wasteland in place of our cities, schools, hospitals, and kindergartens.

​Recent statistics from the UN monitoring mission confirm this: over the last month, Russia has been striking Ukraine three times harder than before. Four hundred and thirty-seven Ukrainian civilians, including 17 children, were killed by Russian drones and missiles in July alone!
​Ukraine has been defending itself for so long that the world sometimes needs to be reminded of basic, obvious truths.

​It was Russia that deceitfully attacked Ukraine. Russia—a country vastly larger in population and 28 times larger in area, a state with practically inexhaustible reserves of lethal metal and nuclear weapons—has been committing mass murder in the very center of Europe for several years.
​Under all criminal codes, a victim has the right to defend themselves against a maniac. They have the right to prevent their own murder and stop the killer. Helping someone defend themselves against a serial killer is normal, humane, and moral. Help Ukraine defend itself.
