Lake Victoria Disability Centre (LVDC)

Lake Victoria Disability Centre (LVDC) LVDC is a registered NGO in Musoma, Tanzania, founded in 2002 by Dennis Maina. Karibu!

LVDC works to create a society in which disabled people are valued as equal citizens. The students are nurtured and encouraged to reach their full potential through the teaching of vocational, creative and life skills thereby giving them the opportunity to explore their talents and be independent members of their community. The Centre also produces mobility aids such as crutches, wheelchairs and t

ricycles in the wood and metal workshops and creates furniture and textiles for the local community. LVDC helps to teach essential life and professional skills such as braille and sign language but we also also work to change perceptions of disability through community projects and outreach programmes. Students learn entrepreneurship skills and on graduation each student receives a business start-up kit with essential tools and materials to help them start their own business with the practical skills they've learned.
