The Centre for Informal Sector Promotion (CISP) is an autonomous Non-Government and non-profit making Organization, officially registered 1994. Objectives:
The immediate objectives are;
• advocate for policy reforms that enhance the development of the informal sector.
• impart and upgrade managerial and technical skills of entrepreneurs, workers and apprentices through training programmes.
• adv
ocate for provision of permanent business sites to the entrepreneurs in the sector.
• Accessing of the Nguvu Kazi sector operators to loans and credit to improve their capital structure.
• Accessing of the Business Community to Consultancy Services in Business Promotion as well as professional Business advises.
• Mobilization of the Nguvu Kazi sector Operators into recognized legal
groups/associations. Target Group:
CISP targets individuals who are engaged in the following Nguvu Kazi activities:
Production activities (artisans) such as
food processing, metal welding and sheet metal works, carpentry and wood work, building materials, handcrafts, textile and batik, leather processing and leather products, milling, tailoring, masonry and all other artisan activities. Small scale farming, including both urban and rural vegetable and fruit farming, animal husbandry, poultry, crop farming and solar salt production from Brine. Trading, mainly involving kiosk and shop
Wholesale and retailing, food vendors etc. Services provision, such as consultancy, training, hair salons, hotel and restaurants.
