Today, Civic Social Protection Foundation (CSP) had a valuable opportunity to strengthen its capacity through a training session on Nutrition Policy Development, facilitated by a nutrition expert from COUNSENUTH.

The training provided practical knowledge on the key steps and considerations involved in developing an effective nutrition policy, while creating space for meaningful knowledge sharing, discussion, and exchange of ideas.

Importantly, the development of CSP’s Nutrition Policy will contribute to strengthening the organisation’s Community Health Key Result Area, as outlined in its Strategic Plan, and help guide more coordinated and informed actions to improve community health and wellbeing.

Beyond gaining new knowledge, the session was an important step in strengthening CSP’s organisational capacity, encouraging collaboration, and translating ideas into practical actions.

Today, CSP, in partnership with Vi Agroforestry through the ASILIB-CC programme, supported an awareness and knowledge-sharing session on the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) in Dodoma, convened by the Tanzania CAADP Focal Persons from the Ministry of Agriculture.

The session brought stakeholders together to deepen understanding of CAADP's objectives, implementation framework and its role in accelerating agricultural transformation, food and nutrition security, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods in Tanzania.

One message ran through the session: CAADP commitments gain meaning when coordination is strengthened, evidence is shared, and actors align around common priorities. Platforms and partnerships matter because they turn dialogue into joint action.

The facilitator appreciated the training and knowledge-sharing initiative taken by CSP and Vi Agroforestry, acknowledging that there are limited organisations that convene such a broad range of individuals for these kinds of discussions. That observation underscores why this space is so valuable — and why we must sustain it.

We remain committed to working with the government, farmers, CSOs, researchers, the private sector, and development partners to ensure CAADP delivers tangible results for farmers and communities.

Big day for agroforestry in Tanzania! Vi Agroforestry Tanzania and the Civic Social Protection Foundation (CSP) have officially launched the Tanzania Agroforestry Stakeholders' Platform (TASP) at the Brand Conference Hall in Dodoma.

At its heart, TASP unites the people who make agroforestry happen: government, farmer organisations, researchers, civil society, private sector, finance and development partners — all pulling in one direction.

The platform will carry forward the recommendations of the National Agroforestry Symposium, turning them into real follow-up. Along the way, it will gather evidence, spot the gaps where implementation falls short, and connect farmer priorities to policy, planning, budgeting and investment.

Importantly, TASP is not here to take over. It works alongside Government institutions, the National Agroforestry Advisory Committee and existing mechanisms — adding value, strengthening coordination, and making sure smallholder farmers are heard.

We were honoured to welcome Mr Nickson Kimaro from the Ministry of Agriculture, who launched the platform. He praised TASP as a strong match for the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, and left us with a challenge worth remembering: judge this platform not by how many times we meet, but by what changes on the ground — land brought back to life and farming communities that can stand firm against a changing climate.

CSP | August 2026 Highlights

August was a month of action, collaboration, and policy engagement for the Civic Social Protection Foundation (CSP). 🌍

From participating in Nane Nane 2026 and convening an Agroforestry Stakeholders Side Event, to analysing the 2026/27 Agriculture Budget, launching the Tanzania Agroforestry Stakeholders Platform (TASP), and mobilising stakeholders for the upcoming 11th National Agroforestry Symposium in Musoma, CSP continued to strengthen dialogue and coordination within the agriculture and agroforestry sector.

We also conducted district-level budget analysis in Butiama, Serengeti and Tarime, bringing together agricultural stakeholders and government leaders to discuss priorities, accountability and increased investment in agroforestry.

In Kagera, CSP, in collaboration with FLCAD, officially launched the Kyerwa District Agricultural Platform (DAP)—creating a stronger space for farmers and agricultural stakeholders to engage, collaborate and advocate for sustainable agricultural development.

Strengthening Collaboration Between Civil Society Organizations and Government

CSP had the opportunity to host a delegation of national leaders from NACONGO, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Community Development, for a meeting aimed at strengthening mutual understanding, exploring areas of collaboration, and enhancing engagement within the NGO sector.

During the meeting, NACONGO shared updates on preparations for the NGO Forum and Civil Society Organizations Exhibition scheduled to take place from 20–22 October 2026. Discussions focused on promoting broad participation of NGOs, particularly organizations operating in remote and underserved areas, through early preparations that will provide them with sufficient time and opportunity to participate meaningfully in the exhibition.

The meeting also included an invitation for CSP and its partners to participate in the NGO Forum through financial and technical contributions, as well as sharing ideas and experiences. The Forum will provide an important platform for stakeholders to discuss key issues affecting the NGO sector, including proposed amendments to the laws and regulations governing Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

On the other hand, CSP shared information with NACONGO about the upcoming Annual Agroforestry Symposium Under the ASILIB-CC program, which will be held in Bweri, Musoma. NACONGO expressed strong interest in participating in the symposium and acknowledged the value of attending the event. They also expressed their commitment to participate, creating an opportunity for further knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration around agroforestry and sustainable development.

The visit was an important opportunity to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas, and identify areas of mutual collaboration, while laying the foundation for closer engagement between CSP, NACO NGO, Government institutions, and other Civil Society Organizations.

Launch of the Kyerwa District Agricultural Platform (DAP)

On 18ᵗʰ August 2026, the Civic Social Protection Foundation (CSP), together with its core partner the Foundation for Local Capacity in Agricultural Development (FLCAD), formed and officially launched the Kyerwa District Agricultural Platform (DAP) — a key milestone for smallholder farmers in the district.

The platform unites farmers, crop traders, NGOs, technical officers from the District Council, and stakeholders from across the agricultural value chain. It was established under the ASILIB-CC Programme, which CSP and FLCAD implement in partnership with Vi Agroforestry.

The platform was officially launched by the Kyerwa District Commissioner, Hon. Zaituni, who thanked and commended CSP, FLCAD and partners for delivering a forum the district had long hoped for. In her remarks, she made several key calls:

Ownership and continuity: The platform belongs to the people of Kyerwa. Its knowledge and values must remain with them — in their thinking and in their actions — and must continue even after the partners and the project come to an end.
Keep it active: Just like the platform already serving livestock keepers, the DAP must stay active and functional. She noted it was overdue for farmers, who are the backbone of Kyerwa's economy.
Unity and a common voice: She urged farmers to work together to grow their economy and to speak with one collective voice, with their concerns and recommendations taken up and acted upon.
A voice for the small farmer: The platform should stand as a strong advocate for the smallholder farmer, especially on matters of policy and against the unfair treatment that disadvantages farmers.
Self-reliance: Farmers should not depend on donor funding alone, but use the platform to share experiences, solve challenges together, produce more, and grow on their own.
Climate-smart, productive farming: She encouraged profitable farming and organic methods — especially Agroforestry — to build resilience against climate change.

She summed up the DAP as an opportunity to grow the local economy for the benefit of all farmers and the nation as a whole.

To lead the platform forward, members elected a Chairperson and a Vice-Chairperson, who will guide and represent the members.

CSP, following a special invitation from the Chairperson of Mutuka Sub-ward, conducted a community legal education session on Inheritance Law, Marriage Law, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) on 19 August 2026 in Mutuka Ward, Babati Town Council, Babati District, Manyara Region.
The session was attended by a group of entrepreneurs and other community members, who demonstrated great interest and enthusiasm by actively asking numerous questions to enhance their understanding of the topics discussed. The programme was followed by the provision of one-on-one legal aid services to individual community members seeking legal assistance.

MARA UNIFIES FOR AGROFORESTRY – 7 RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED! 🌳🔥

Today's Budget Analysis Feedback Meeting in Mara brought together policymakers, technical experts, farmers, and development partners—not just to discuss, but to take action.

Representatives from Parliament, Council Chairpersons, the Regional Commissioner's Office, Butiama, Serengeti and Tarime councils, farmers, MUGABIRE, Project ZAWADI, MVIWANYA, IDS and BUFADESO joined forces, with CSP implementing the activity with generous support from Vi Agroforestry.

The meeting adopted 7 bold resolutions to strengthen Agroforestry planning and budgeting:

1️⃣ Enact Agroforestry By-Laws– Establish and enforce local regulations to protect Agroforestry.

2️⃣ No Budget Diversion– Ensure Agroforestry funds are used strictly for their intended purpose.

3️⃣ Dedicated Budget Vote– Create specific budget lines for Agroforestry interventions.

4️⃣ Agriculture Investment Plans** – Develop sustainable Agroforestry investment plans under Agriculture Departments.

5️⃣ Scale Up Coffee Seedling Production – Increase funding to meet growing community demand.

6️⃣ Recruit 400+ Extension Officers & Provide Tools – Through MPs, request national government support to address staffing gaps and provide essential tools, including motorcycles.

7️⃣ Permanent Council Agenda Item– Make tree-planting progress a standing item in council meetings for continuous accountability.

The meeting also reaffirmed commitments to free seedling distribution, integrating Environmental Plans into budgets, and establishing Council Agroforestry Committees.

Our Parliamentary representatives pledged to champion these resolutions in the National Assembly.

This is more than a meeting—it’s a movement. 🌱
