From Policy to Practice: Advancing Sustainable Agriculture in Bahi, Dodoma

CSP, as a Technical Partner in Asili B-CC and policy advocacy, proudly participated in a hands-on training on Sustainable Agricultural Land Management (SALM) organized by Vi Agroforestry Tanzania in Bahi District.

Facilitated by Dr. Monica Nderitu and Ms. Elizabeth Mwinyeria, the session offered practical, field-based experience on climate-smart techniques including Zai Pits, Half-Moon structures, Nutrition Gardens, contour establishment using A-frames, and biofertilizer (compost) preparation.

For CSP, this was more than just a training—it was an opportunity to bridge policy and practice. By engaging directly with farmers from Chamwiilee Organization, we continue to strengthen our advocacy with real, on-the-ground insights that inform inclusive, evidence-based agricultural policies.

We believe that effective policy must be rooted in farmers’ realities. Experiences like these enhance our capacity to advocate for sustainable land management approaches that are practical, scalable, and responsive to climate challenges.

trengthening partnerships through learning and collaboration
CSP was pleased to welcome a delegation from Impact Lead Tanzania (Babati, Manyara) for a learning and experience-sharing visit.

The visit provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and explore our shared commitment to addressing climate change, promoting sustainable agriculture, and improving sustainable livelihoods for smallholder farmers. We also discovered common interests in organic farming,agroforesrty and the use of demonstration plots as practical learning approaches.
As part of strengthening this partnership, CSP invited Impact Lead Tanzania to participate in the 11th Agroforestry Symposium in Musoma that will take place from 19th to 21st October and the upcoming launch of the Tanzania Agroforestry Coalition (TAC) in the next quarter.

This engagement marks an important step toward building stronger partnerships, fostering mutual learning, and creating lasting impact for communities and the environment.

As part of the Farmers Organization Strengthening component of the ASILIB-CC Programme, CSP, in partnership with Vi Agroforestry, conducted an Organizational Capacity Assessment with Kitovu cha Maendeleo Safi (KIMAS).

What Happened?

✅ Assessed governance and organizational capacity

✅ Facilitated reflection, learning, and knowledge sharing

The Outcome
The assessment identified key organizational strengths to sustain and governance capacity gaps to address, providing a foundation for strengthening KIMAS' institutional effectiveness and enhancing its support to smallholder farmers through the ASILIB-CC Programme.
