MCT is pleased to announce its participation in the upcoming World Oral Health Day Commemoration scheduled from March 14–20, 2026, with the main celebration taking place on March 20, 2026 in Manyara.

This year’s theme, “A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Life”, highlights the importance of good oral health as a key component of overall wellbeing. In line with this theme, the event will offer; Oral health check-ups, Oral health education, Oral health counselling and treatment and Awareness walk to mark the commemoration

As a committed stakeholder in promoting health and wellbeing, MCT actively support and participate in activities aimed at increasing awareness about oral hygiene and encouraging communities to utilize available oral health services.

We encourage members of the public to join us during this important week and take advantage of the services offered.

Happy World Oral Health Day.

Today the world commemorate World Oral Health Day, which is celebrated every year on March 20. In Tanzania this global event took place in Coastal Region— Kibaha District. It began on March 14 with different activities in the region being carried out by different organizations and government agencies such as Tanzania Dental Associations(TDA), Miracle Corners Tanzania(MCT), Ministry of Health (MoH) and PO-RALG.

Different oral healthcare services were provided ranging from Oral Health Education, Screening, Referrals and Treatment along with distribution of Toothpaste and Toothbrush. Community members benefited directly from the services where schools, centers and hospitals were provided with the most opportunities to be visited in the region.

This year’s WOHD theme is “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Body”. Miracle Corners Tanzania as devoted organization envisioned to see communities throughout Tanzania live free from oral and dental diseases did take part to actively participate in the event from start to finish. MCT also managed to present the Experience of rolling out community based oral health services in Tanzania via the webinar. Where a number of stakeholders got a chance to interact and learn from our grassroots efforts.

As we continue marching toward the final day of World Oral Health Day, Miracle Corners Tanzania(MCT), Ministry of Health (MoH), PO- RALG, and Tanzania Dental Association (TDA) continue their efforts to provide oral and dental health services in World Oral Health Day Week happening in Coastal Region to be precise in Kibaha District.

Through collaborative efforts, we are reaching those communities with underserved oral health care services in the regions—— in a hard to reach population centers. The team provided Oral Health Education, Oral Health Instruction, Screening, referrals and emergency treatment for patients with oral and dental diseases at Lulanzi Hospital, Tumbi Hospital, Lulanzi Primary School, Tumbi Primary School and Kambarage Primary School.

We are committed to elevating our efforts to tackle the burden of oral and dental disease by addressing preventive measures in the community through a comprehensive oral health care program and initiatives. Miracle Corners Tanzania is dedicated to seeing Tanzanian live free from oral and dental diseases.

Day2: World Oral Health Day Week - Kibaha Pwani.

Miracle Corners Tanzania, and Tanzania Dental Association(TDA) started off day two by paying a courtesy visit to the Office of District Commissioner for Kibaha, Hon. Nickson Simon John (Centre). Among other things, we highlighted the significance importance of Oral Healthcare in the region and Tanzania as a whole by showcasing the benefits of a healthy community of people free of oral health diseases.

As we march towards the peak of commemorating this global event March 20. We are committed to providing free oral health education, screening, referral and treatment to those affected with oral health disease. The team then went to Mamlaka Primary School to provide preventive and curative oral healthcare services.

Today, as we mark the launching of World Oral Health Day 2024, a day celebrated each year on March 20th, Miracle Corners Tanzania (MCTanzania) is proud to announce collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Health(MoH), the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), and the Tanzania Dental Association (TDA) to spearheading this year’s crucial World Oral Health Day campaign.

This joint initiative, a testament to our collective commitment, is of utmost importance. It aims to provide oral health education, screening, and free oral and dental treatment to citizens from all Councils of the Coast Region and neighboring regions. It’s a significant event, marking the World Oral and Dental Health Week, and is taking place from 14th -20th March 2024, with the national event being held at the ‘’Kibaha-Coast Town Council’’.

During the celebration, a camp of specialized oral and dental practitioners will provide invaluable Oral and Dental Health Education. This education, a beacon of hope, will equip expectant mothers, Primary and Secondary school students, and centers for children with special needs with the knowledge and tools to maintain good oral health, ensuring a brighter and healthier future.

Day 3: A New Generation of Community Health Leaders.

The day commenced with a comprehensive recap of Day 2, led by Ms. Sara Mtagwa, Program Officer at MCT. Participants actively engaged in sharing their profound insights gleaned from the preceding day's sessions.

Subsequently, Ms. Doreen Mosha, an esteemed facilitator, guided an enlightening session centered on the development of an Entrepreneurial Mindset. This session aimed to equip our community health fellows with the strategic thinking necessary for impactful leadership.

Following a tea break, Mr. Michael Leo, a Youth Activist, led an instructive session on Resource Mobilization. Here, our fellows delved into the essential aspects of efficiently managing and acquiring resources to further their community health endeavors.

Continuing the day's learning journey, Ms. Imakulata Mwalulefu, a Certified Nutrition Specialist, delivered a comprehensive session on the Basic Concepts of Nutrition and Oral Health. The focus here was on elucidating the critical relationship between nutrition and oral well-being.

Lastly, the day culminated with a vital session addressing the Basic Concepts of WASH and Oral Health. This session was expertly facilitated by Ms. Frida Musilimu, a WASH Specialist, underscoring the paramount importance of clean water and hygiene in the pursuit of overall health.

Day 2: A New Generation of Community Health Leadership.

The day began with a recap of Day 1, led by MCT's Program Officer, Dorine Focus. Community Health Fellows shared snapshots of their insights from the previous day's sessions.

Next, Ms. Sara Mtagwa, an accredited Dental Therapist and MCT's Program Officer, delved into Critical Knowledge in Community Health.

After a tea break, Dr. Katanta L. Simwanza, Country Manager for MC - Tanzania, discussed Inclusive Education, Gender, and Disability, with valuable insights shared by the community health fellows.

Afterwards, Mr. Joseph Ogandi, Optometrist from SKYGEN Foundation International enlightened the group on the Basics of Vision Care for Community Health Fellows.

The day concluded with an exploration of Re-defining Leadership - Getting to Know What Leadership is, facilitated by the Young Leaders team from MCW Global: Mr. Leon Gojan, Program Associate—Young Leaders Program, and Ms. Dhurata Berisha, Coordinator—Young Leaders Fellowship.

CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP TO COMMUNITY HEALTH FELLOWS

DAY 1

Today, we officially kicked off the first day of our Capacity Building Workshop to Community Health Fellows, second cohort, in Arusha, Tanzania.

The workshop intends to capacitate our newly selected community health fellows with the necessary skills required in rolling out community- based outreach.

We started off with a warm welcome and introduction done by MCT’s Country Manager, Dr. Katanta Simwanza.

The official launching was graced by the presence of Dr. Baraka Nzobo, the Assistant Director of Oral Health Services, Ministry of Health, who served as the guest of honor.

Next, Ms. Anna Nnko, representing SKYGEN/FPH, delivered an insightful presentation on partnership opportunities for our programs.

After this, Kambarage Kinemo, MCT’s Program Coordinator, shared essential insights about the Community Health Fellowship Program.

After a well-deserved lunch break, Dr. Ibrahim Kasambala, a tutor, DDS, MDENT (Restorative Dentistry) from Mbeya College of Health and Allied Sciences, presented on Ethics and Professionalism in Dentistry.

Then the Representatives from Colgate Palmolive Co. Ltd enlightened us with their presentation on the MCT - Colgate partnership.

The day concluded with a valuable session led by MCT’s Finance and Administration Officer, Ms. Rabia Mkamba, who guided the group through Time Management and Administrative "Know How" sessions.

This Thursday, we are throwing it back to 2019 when the MC-Tanzania team conducted a dental outreach in primary schools in the Tanga region. They provided oral and dental health education, and distributed IEC materials, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.

Through these collaborative efforts, the aim was to foster improved oral and dental health across Tanzania.
