As we reflect on Children's Day, we are reminded that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up safe, healthy, educated, and hopeful.

For more than two decades, Good Neighbors Tanzania has worked alongside communities to improve the lives of children through education support, child sponsorship, health services, child protection initiatives, advocacy, and community development programs.

Today, more than 7,000 sponsored children across 10 Community Development Projects are accessing opportunities that help them learn, thrive, and pursue their dreams.

Our commitment goes beyond meeting immediate needs. We work to create environments where children's rights are protected, their voices are heard, and their potential is nurtured.

As we celebrate children, we also renew our promise to continue building communities where every child can grow with dignity, hope, and opportunity.

1,158 coffee farmers in Mbozi District have accesed better planting materials, reliable water sources, improved processing facilities, stronger cooperatives, and the knowledge to adapt to a changing climate through the KOICA Coffee Project!

Through the KOICA Coffee Project, 127,506 climate resilient coffee seedlings were distributed, three coffee nurseries were established, and 706 farmers received Climate Smart Agriculture training, with 561 already applying these practices in their farms.

To address water challenges, a climate resilient reservoir with a storage capacity of 200 million liters was constructed in Itumpi Ward through a joint investment of TZS 600.3 million, including contributions from KOICA and Mbozi District Council.

The project also strengthened coffee value addition and market competitiveness through the construction and improvement of three AMCOS Coffee Processing Units, equipped with eco-pulping machines capable of processing 2,500 kg of coffee cherries per hour.

In addition, AMCOS leaders and marketing committees were trained in governance, financial management, leadership, and marketing to strengthen institutional sustainability.

As we officially hand over these investments to the community, we celebrate a shared achievement made possible through the collaboration of coffee farmers, AMCOS, KOICA, Good Neighbors Tanzania, TaCRI, TCB, NIRC, Songwe Regional Government, and Mbozi District Council.

Mkoa wa Songwe kupitia Halmashauri ya Mbozi unashika nafasi ya 2 nchini Tanzania katika uzalishaji wa Kahawa aina ya Arabika, tukichangia 16.6% ya Kahawa yote nchini Tanzania. Hata hivyo, mkoa wetu bado una nafasi kubwa ya kuzalisha zaidi.

Moja ya changamoto kubwa inayokabili sekta hii ni athari za mabadiliko ya Tabianchi, yanayochangia kushusha tija na uzalishaji. Mwelekeo wa Wizara ya Kilimo chini ya Mhe. Daniel Chongolo katika utekelezaji wa maono ya Rais wetu Mhe. Dkt Samia Suluhu Hassan, ni kuwekeza katika ujenzi wa miundombinu ya umwagiliaji sambamba na kuhamasisha jamii kutunza na kuhifadhi mazingira.

Shukrani za dhati kwa wadau wetu wa Shirika la Good Neighbors na KOICA kwa kuunga mkono jitihada za serikali kukabiliana na athari za mabadiliko ya Tabianchi. Leo wametukabidhi mradi wa Bwawa la Umwagiliaji lenye uwezo wa kuhifadhi maji lita mil 200 na Mtambo wa kukoboa Kahawa (CPU) na miundombinu yake yenye thamani ya zaidi ya Mil 510.

Mradi huu umetekelezwa na Shirika la Good Neighbors Tanzania kwa ufadhili wa Shirika la Kikorea la KOICA na utanufaisha zaidi ya wakulima 1000, utaongeza tija na uzalishaji na kuwezesha kupanua eneo la umwagiliaji kufikia hekta 22,782.

From May 18th to 20th, 2026, GNTZ Country Director Mr. IL Sun Jung and GNI Humanitarian Assistance Team Leader Ms. Goo conducted a joint monitoring visit to the Nyarugusu refugee camp and surrounding host communities.  

The team evaluated the field progress of the CCK funded Food Security and Nutrition Project, which directly tackles malnutrition among children under 5 and their mothers through nutrition distribution and youth kitchen gardens.  

They also reviewed our broader refugee programming active since 2015, including the KOICA funded KiTiKi project supporting local farmers (AMCOS) and the GPC-funded environmental initiative providing clean cooking charcoal briquettes to vulnerable households.

From 20th April to 2nd May 2026, Good Neighbors Tanzania Mwanza Area Office (GNTZ-MAO) distributed essential school supplies to 744 sponsored children in Kome and Chifunfu CDPs to support their education and classroom participation.

Empowering young people starts with creating spaces where they feel safe, informed, and heard💚💚

Under our (SRH PROGRAM) we are excited to introduce SRH School Clubs in Bagamoyo, Fukayosi CDPs, and Chamwino as part of our commitment to empowering children and youth with knowledge on (SRH) , life skills, and informed decision making.

Under this program, we are not only engaging young people, but also working closely with teachers, supervisors, healthcare providers, and communities to strengthen awareness, mentorship, and protection for adolescents and youth.

We are deeply saddened to share that Mr. Minho Choi, Representative of Good Neighbors Ukraine & Romania and former Secretary General of Good Neighbors Global Partnership Center, passed away peacefully in Romania on April 28, 2026.   

In 2011, he was ordained as a pastor. The following year, he began his first mission with Good Neighbors, and what followed was fourteen years of life given fully to others.
