A new journey of hope and empowerment has officially begun in Vingunguti 💜

On Friday, 22nd May 2026, Caritas Dar es Salaam launched a new center for young single mothers in Vingunguti Ward through a project funded by Manos Unidas.

The project aims to reach 300 young single mothers aged 15–35, and so far 190 members have already joined the program.

The initiative focuses on:
✅ Personal transformation and self-development
✅ Economic empowerment and entrepreneurship training
✅ Parenting and child care education to help reduce child abuse and promote positive family growth

The Guest of Honor, the Director of Caritas Dar es Salaam, together with the Project Coordinator Ms. Gladys Oning’o, joined beneficiaries and community members during this important occasion.

During the event, Fr. Denis Wigira emphasized the importance of peace, love, sacrifice, and commitment in achieving sustainable development. He encouraged participants to make good use of the opportunities provided through the project for the betterment of their families and communities.

Kibwegele Group members are actively preparing for the Vuli farming season through different agricultural activities aimed at improving livelihoods and increasing production.

Mr. Magomba was preparing fruit tree seedlings for planting on his farm, while the group also established an onion nursery as part of the current horticulture and vegetable farming season.

Kibesa Group members are continuing to witness positive transformation after completing their VICOBA cycle. One of the major achievements made by members is the purchase of bricks to begin constructing better and improved homes for their families.

The celebration was filled with joy as Mr. & Mrs. Kambangwa danced together in appreciation of the progress achieved through savings and teamwork. Fellow group member Abdallah Tela also joined in celebrating the group’s success and development journey.

Celebrating Growth and Success with NOVIGEZA GUMBA Group!

On April 29, 2026, Caritas DSM joined the NOVIGEZA GUMBA farming and livestock group as they successfully closed their VICOBA cycle after 52 weeks of saving.

With 36 members, the group reached a total of TZS 22,080,000 in shares, social funds, and profits—an increase of over TZS 6 million compared to last year’s TZS 16,000,000.

Through VICOBA, members are transforming their lives by investing in:

Strengthening the Fight Against Human Trafficking in the Eastern Zone

On April 27–28, Caritas DSM convened Gender Desk Coordinators from eight dioceses in the Eastern Zone to discuss and strengthen the implementation of a two-year project aimed at preventing human trafficking.

The dioceses involved include Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Singida, Kondoa, Morogoro, Ifakara, Mahenge, and Tanga—areas identified as source, transit, and destination points for human trafficking.

The project focuses on raising awareness among communities, students, teachers, journalists, social welfare officers, immigration officers, local leaders, and religious leaders.

The meeting was officially opened by a priest from St. Joseph Parish. Participants also received valuable training from a legal expert from TANAHUT and a facilitator from the Anti-Trafficking Secretariat in Dodoma.

Together, we continue to stand for human dignity and protection of the vulnerable.

Caritas DSM conducted a 2-day training for young single mothers in Vingunguti on Group Solidarity and Networking.

The sessions focused on building strong support systems, encouraging teamwork, and creating meaningful connections among the women. It was not only a learning experience—but also a moment of joy, bonding, and shared growth ❤️
