SEPTEMBER: A MONTH OF LEADERSHIP, PEACE AND YOUTH ACTION

The African Leadership Initiative for Impact (ALII) is excited to bring together impactful initiatives that celebrate youth leadership, strengthen peacebuilding efforts, and create platforms for meaningful engagement.

📌 7 September 2026 – Opening Ceremony of the Next Generation Leaders Fellowship (TNLF) Cohort 2
A new chapter begins as we welcome a new generation of emerging leaders ready to learn, connect and create impact.

🕊️ 11–13 September 2026 – Youth Peace Camp
A space for young people to engage, learn and strengthen their role in promoting peace and security.

🌐 18–20 September 2026 – 3rd National Forum on Youth, Peace & Security Agenda
Under the theme “Invest in Peace: Empowering Youth for a Peaceful, Inclusive and Resilient Future,” the forum will bring together diverse voices to advance youth-led solutions for peace.

🏃‍♂️ 19 September 2026 – Peace Fun Run
An opportunity to unite communities through a shared commitment to peace, inclusion and resilience.

Kujifunza, kuunganishwa na kutambua fursa kwa vijana.

Timu ya ALII imetembelea banda la Wizara ya Maendeleo ya Vijana Maendeleo Vijana, katika Tamasha la Nne la Utamaduni lililofanyika katika viwanja vya Jamhuri, Morogoro.

Kupitia ziara hii, tumepata fursa ya kujifunza kuhusu mipango, programu na fursa mbalimbali zinazotolewa na Wizara kwa ajili ya kuwawezesha vijana na kukuza ushiriki wao katika maendeleo ya taifa.

Tunaendelea kuhamasisha vijana kufahamu na kutumia fursa zinazowazunguka kwa ajili ya kujijenga na kuleta mabadiliko chanya katika jamii.

🌍 FROM TANZANIA TO SEOUL: INVESTING IN PEACE 🇹🇿🇰🇷

This week in Seoul, Republic of Korea, African Leadership Initiatives for Impact (ALII) had the honour of participating in the 11th International Conference on Global Citizenship Education (IConGCED).

ALII was invited as an inaugural recipient of the UNESCO Prize for Global Citizenship Education (GCED), in recognition of our youth-led work through the in Tanzania.

Representing ALII, our Executive Director Joseph Malekela delivered a TED Talk–style presentation titled “Investing in Peace: Our Shared Responsibility,” sharing lessons from our work empowering young people through peace education, dialogue, digital advocacy and youth leadership.

Our message was simple: Young people are not merely beneficiaries of peace. They are peacebuilders. And peace cannot wait until conflict begins. We must invest in peace while we still have peace. 🕊️

We are grateful to UNESCO and APCEIU for providing a global platform to share Tanzania’s youth-led peacebuilding experience and connect with inspiring voices from around the world.

Strengthening collaboration through shared knowledge and collective action.

ALII, represented by VanessaOsward, Assistant Coordinator – Leadership Program, participated in a stakeholder engagement session focused on the launch and sharing of the 2026 report, budget presentation, and discussions on upcoming programs for 2027.

The session provided an important platform for partners to reflect on progress, review strategic priorities, and share recommendations to enhance future initiatives that create meaningful impact.

Together, we continue to support initiatives that empower young people and contribute to sustainable development.
