Her Initiative started in 2012 and was previously known as Teen Girls’ Supportive Initiative. A group of 3 high school students decided to take the lead in addressing issues that affected them and the girls around them.
“There were many school dropouts, teen pregnancies and violence around us so we decided to find solutions for us and others. We sat down and identified areas where we could access

knowledge around life skills, girls’ rights and laws. Because we spoke the same language as our peers we decided to carry out campaigns where we educated girls our fellow girls together with experts from the girls’ rights field. In later years the organization was registered and the name was changed from Teen Girls’ Support Initiative to Her Initiative.” – Lydia Charles Moyo (Founder)
