President Evariste Ndayishimiye of the Republic of Burundi and current Chairperson of the African Union called on Africa to invest more in its human capital, education, research, innovation and entrepreneurship, H.E. stated that the continent possesses the skills and resources necessary for its development, he urged young people to believe in their potential and to put their creativity at the service of its transformation and called on the leaders of African States to support programs for the empowerment of youth and women.

📣 It’s Official We’re Bujumbura Bound! 🇧🇮

The Imara Leadership Initiative team is proud to be participating in the 5th African Union Continental Dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security in Africa & Women, Peace and Security Forum, taking place 10–12 August 2026 in Bujumbura, Burundi.

Hosted under the esteemed leadership of H.E. Evariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi, in his role as the African Union Champion for Youth, Peace and Security, this year’s dialogue will bring together changemakers from across the continent to shape Africa’s peace and security agenda.

💧 Theme: “Water, Peace and Inclusive Leadership in Africa: Institutionalization of the Strategic Role of Youth and Women in Conflict Prevention, Crisis Management and Sustainable Peace Consolidation through Responsible Resource Governance.”

Kwa mara ya kwanza kabisa, Mkutano wa Wabunge Wanawake wa Ukanda wa Maziwa Makuu (Women Parliamentary Conference) 2026 utafanyika Dar es Salaam, Tanzania kuanzia 02–05 Novemba 2026.

Jukwaa la Mabunge la Mkutano wa Kimataifa kuhusu Eneo la Maziwa Makuu (Forum des Parlements de la CIRGL/Forum of Parliaments of the ICGLR ) kwa kushirikiana na Bunge la Tanzania litaunganisha wabunge wanawake kutoka mataifa 12 ya Ukanda wa Maziwa Makuu kujadili nafasi ya wanawake katika kuimarisha amani, utawala bora, maendeleo endelevu na ushirikiano wa kikanda.

Washiriki watatoka Angola, Burundi, Jamhuri ya Afrika ya Kati, Jamhuri ya Kidemokrasia ya Kongo, Kenya, Rwanda, Jamhuri ya Kongo, Sudan Kusini, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda na Zambia, pamoja na mashirika ya kiraia, washirika wa maendeleo na wawakilishi wa taasisi za kikanda na kimataifa.

🎉🎉 Celebrating Imara Leadership Initiative team achievements 🙌

Congratulations to our amazing team member Emmanuel Elias , on graduating from the Youth Leadership Capacity Development Fellowship by Youth Hub Arusha MS-TCDC and the International Republican Institute (IRI) Tanzania Office !

Emmanuel, spent a couple of months pitching and furnishing our stellar project of Amani Labs – Youth for Peaceful Communities, was born out of the IRI Youth Ideathon Hackathon 2026, at Imara Leadership Initiative we value learning and leadership journeys to be able to implement our programming better.

Are you a creative content creator, social media influencer, digital storyteller or educator passionate about peace, women’s leadership and advocacy?

We are recruiting 500 experienced and creative Online Volunteers to join the Tanzania Women Peace and Security Coalition (TWPS) in amplifying the Women Parliamentary Conference 2026, taking place 02–05 November 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

📣 We are looking for 40 passionate volunteers from each member states in the Great Lakes Region:

Our Co-Chair, Ms. Petrider Paul , who also serves as a member of the African Women Leaders Network Tanzania Chapter – Women, Peace and Security Pillar, had the privilege of participating in a cross-learning session with the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG ) from South Korea, organized by Nendiwe Feminist Wellness and Coaching Centre.

The session created a valuable space for exchanging experiences, strengthening global solidarity and exploring innovative approaches to advancing the Women, Peace and Security agenda across communities such as through arts and educational place programmes.

The Tanzania Women, Peace and Security Coalition welcomes opportunities for collaboration and partnership with organizations and networks committed to promoting peace, women’s leadership and sustainable development.

From community conversations to continental dialogue our founder, Ms. Petrider Paul, was honoured to contribute as an invited expert speaker at the Third Accra Reflection Forum on Unconstitutional Changes of Government in Africa: Youth Inclusion for African Stability.

Serving in her capacity as Chairperson of YouthConnekt Africa’s Youth Advisory Council and a member of the FemWise Africa network of the African Union, she joined distinguished leaders as a discussant during the High-Level Session on “The State of Democratic Governance in Africa.”

One message stood out, “Africa’s democratic future cannot be built without young people at the decision-making table”.

As the continent advances constitutional order, peace and resilient institutions, youth must move beyond being participants but must be trusted partners in shaping African-led solutions that deliver lasting impact.
