πŸ’™ A huge thank you to Laetitia & William, who visited us at Familia Moja on Monday all the way from France!

They kindly donated school supplies, games, toothbrushes, toothpaste and rice for our children - practical gifts that go straight into daily life at the nursery and make a real difference for our 70 children here in Bwejuu.

Asante sana Laetitia & William for your generosity and for taking the time to visit us! πŸ™βœ¨

πŸ’™ Two weeks that felt like a lifetime of love πŸ’™

Ana and Carolina, our incredible volunteers, packed up their bags this week, but they left something behind that no suitcase could carry: a piece of their hearts at Familia Moja.

From day one, these two showed up with open arms, endless patience, and a kind of maturity you don't often see - the kind that lets a person get down on the floor with a shy three-year-old and stay there until that child feels brave enough to smile. They laughed with the loud ones, sat quietly with the shy ones, and somehow found a way to reach every single child in between.

They came here hoping to help. What they actually did was become family.

Ana & Carolina - thank you for the mornings, the mess, the laughter, the chats, the burnt kitchen, (we forgive you, Ana πŸ˜‰), and the two weeks of pure joy you brought to our children, our staff, and to us. Chichi and I read your letter, and honestly, we don't think we've ever been more moved. You didn't just volunteer here - you belonged here.

We already miss you both more than words can say. Zanzibar and Familia Moja will always be your second home. Come back soon (husbands and future little ones very much welcome πŸ’™).

Auntie Ana and Auntie Carolina, you will always be part of our Familia.

With all our love,
Tim & Chichi and the whole Familia Moja family πŸ’™

πŸ’™ A Huge Thank You to Marion, Giulia & Ethan! πŸ’™

We are so touched by the generosity of Marion and her wonderful children, Giulia and Ethan, who kindly donated school supplies to our children here at Familia Moja Nursery School in Bwejuu!

Sadly, Marion and Ethan weren't feeling well and couldn't visit us in person this time - but that didn't stop them making sure this donation reached us, along with the sweetest family photo and a heartfelt letter thanking us for the work we do. πŸ₯Ή

Gestures like this remind us why this community means so much - thank you for thinking of our children even from afar. We hope to welcome you all to Familia Moja very soon!

Get well soon Marion & Ethan - sending you all our love from Tim, Chichi, the staff and all the children. πŸ’™

What a beautiful day at Familia Moja!

We were so lucky to welcome Besma & Ines to our nursery school here in Bwejuu. These two lovely ladies from Switzerland believe that wherever they travel, it's important to give back to the local community, and we're so grateful they found their way to us in Zanzibar.

Besma & Ines made a wonderfully generous donation to support our school, and brought footballs for the children to enjoy at playtime. The joy on our children's faces says it all - thank you both from the bottom of our hearts! πŸ™

Acts of kindness like this make a huge difference to the children of Familia Moja. So from all the staff and children at Familia Moja - welcome to your Familia Moja family. You are now another wonderful chapter in our story!

πŸ’™ Merci beaucoup, Luczak family! πŸ’™

What a joyful day at Familia Moja Nursery School! We were so lucky to welcome the wonderful Luczak family, visiting us all the way from France, who arrived with generous donations of food, school supplies, and toys for our children.

Our little ones couldn't wait to show off their talents in return - bursting with pride as they sang our school song and the Tanzanian national anthem at the top of their lungs! And since French happens to be on the curriculum too, they jumped at the chance to practice their "Bonjour!" and "Merci!" with some real French visitors - the giggles (and a few proud little chests) said it all!

Moments like these remind us what Familia Moja is all about: community, generosity, and children growing up with the world open to them. Thank you for choosing to spend your time with us and for filling our school with new supplies, smiles, and a little bit of France.

Karibu tena (come back soon)!

A Day They'll Never Forget!

Huge, heartfelt thanks to Blessmanity e.V. and everyone who gave through Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe, because of you, all 70 children from Familia Moja Nursery School got to spend a magical day at Ali's Acre in Makunduchi!

From little hands feeding fluffy rabbits, to getting deliciously messy with clay modelling, and zooming down the mini zip line and conquering the climbing frames - the laughter and excitement never stopped!

And of course, no big adventure is complete without a feast, and so a special thanks goes out to our cooks (Eva & Rose), our teachers (Wanu & Fatma) and most importantly Chichi (co-founder & Head of School) who toiled for hours the evening before and in the morning to make sure the delicious lunch was prepared, packed and ready for the day. The children were able to tuck into a wonderful lunch of Masala rice, chicken and vegetables, followed by juicy watermelon and refreshing juice. Full tummies and even fuller hearts!

Last, a huge thank you to Ali's Acre for so generously hosting us free of charge, and a very special shoutout to Marisa, Astrid, and the whole Ali's Acre team - your warmth, energy, and care made sure the day ran perfectly and every single child had the time of their life.

Moments like these remind us what generosity can do. Thank you, Blessmanity e.V., Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe, and Ali's Acre, for turning an ordinary day into an extraordinary memory for 70 very lucky children. πŸ’™

A Bond That Keeps Growing πŸ’™

Virginie left us yesterday, and the house already feels a little quieter without her. But we're smiling too, because we know she'll be back in October for her 5th visit. Five visits. Let that sink in.

Virginie and her husband Fauzi first came to Zanzibar in December 2023, and they arrived with something extraordinary: bags upon bags of clothes, toys, school supplies, and first aid materials. At the time, our building was up, but the school hadn't even opened its doors yet. There was nothing to show them but potential, and they trusted us with it anyway.

That trust has only deepened with every visit since. What people don't see is what happens between the visits - back home in France, Virginie works tirelessly, reaching out to anyone and everyone, gathering donations bit by bit. She's told us her house is practically taken over by a growing stockpile, all set aside and waiting for the next chance to bring it here, to the children who need it.

This isn't a one-off act of kindness. It's a long-term commitment and passion to help us to support the children from our little community in Bwejuu, and a friendship that's been built visit by visit, donation by donation, hug by hug, laugh after laugh and it means more to us and to our Familia Moja family than words can really capture.

Virginie, thank you for seeing us before there was anything other than a promise to see. Thank you for every box, every bag, every trip across the world. We already can't wait for October. 🧑

πŸ’™ A big thank you to Sergen and Buse! πŸ’™

While on holiday here in Zanzibar, this lovely couple from the UK took time out of their trip to come and see us in Bwejuu - not just to visit, but to really understand what Familia Moja is all about. They asked thoughtful questions about what we do, how we do it, and why it matters, and their genuine curiosity and joy for the project was so heartwarming to see.

Sergen and Buse didn't just leave with a better understanding of our little community - they left behind a wonderfully generous cash donation and gifts of food and cooking oil for our daily food programme, which means every one of our children will enjoy warm, nourishing meals thanks to their kindness.

It's visitors like you who remind us that even a short stop on a holiday can turn into something that truly touches lives. From all of us at Familia Moja - and especially from the children who'll be tucking into lunch because of you - thank you! πŸ™πŸ²

Come visit us anytime you're back on the island - the door (and the kitchen!) is always open. 🌴

🧑 A big thank you to Kara and Romain from the USA who spent time with us at Familia Moja! 🧑

Today our Bwejuu family got a little bigger. Kara and Romain didn't just drop by - they spent time with our team to understand what we do, how we do it, and why it matters, before jumping straight into the fun stuff with our children at lunch break!

They arrived with generous donations of food supplies to keep our kitchen running and footballs that will have our playground buzzing with excitement.

Moments like these remind us that Familia Moja isn't just a school - it's a community that grows every time someone chooses to show up, ask questions, and involved.

Asante sana, Kara and Romain, for your generosity, your curiosity, and for taking the time to really see the children you're supporting.

Safe travels back to the USA - welcome to your Moja family. πŸ’™

πŸ’™ A Beautiful Surprise at Familia Moja πŸ’™

This week we welcomed two very special visitors to Familia Moja β€” AΓ―cha and Jocelyne, all the way from France! πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

They were spending their holiday in Zanzibar, and instead of just relaxing on the beach, they took time out to come and find us - even though our school was closed for our mid-year break. That meant they couldn't meet our 70 children or see a normal day of lessons, laughter, uji at 10:30 and lunch at 1pm in full swing... but that didn't stop them for a second. 🌴

AΓ―cha and Jocelyne arrived with generous donations of food and a wonderful collection of learning materials and games for our classrooms - the kind of gifts that will bring smiles (and a lot of learning!) to our children for months to come.

They stayed to learn all about Familia Moja - what we do, how we do it, and why it matters so much to our little community here in Bwejuu.

Thank you, AΓ―cha and Jocelyne, from all of us - Chichi, the teachers, and every one of our 70 children who will benefit from your kindness. Visits and gifts like yours remind us that Familia Moja's story reaches far beyond Zanzibar. πŸ™βœ¨

We hope you'll come back one day when school is open, so you can finally meet the children whose lives you've touched!
