Position: Program Officer (Volunteer) - Strengthening Early Childhood Education

About TAYONEHO
Tanzania Youth With New Hope In Life Organization (TAYONEHO) is a youth-led, Non-Governmental Organization founded in 2010 and legally registered in 2013 under the NGO Act No.24 of 2002 (Registration No. 00NGO/00006292). With a national mandate to operate across Tanzania, TAYONEHO focuses on education, youth economic empowerment, public health, WASH, human rights, and research development.
We are currently implementing a program titled “Strengthening Early Childhood Education in Tanzania” aimed at improving preschool enrollment and investment in preprimary education infrastructure in rural areas, particularly in the Lake Zone.
Position Overview
The Program Officer (Volunteer) will support the design, coordination, and implementation of activities under the Early Childhood Education program in Mwanza Region. This position is ideal for an energetic and passionate graduate who wants to contribute to shaping the future of children in rural Tanzania through inclusive and equitable preschool education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning, implementation, and monitoring of Early Childhood Education activities in Mwanza Region.
- Mobilize communities and stakeholders to promote preschool enrollment and awareness of the importance of early learning.
- Facilitate partnerships with local authorities, schools, and community-based organizations to enhance preschool infrastructure and services.
- Conduct data collection, documentation, and reporting on project activities and outcomes.
- Assist in resource mobilization, proposal writing, and stakeholder engagement for program sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and national education standards.
- Support in organizing trainings, workshops, and awareness campaigns targeting parents, teachers, and community leaders.
- Participate in research, baseline assessments, and monitoring to track progress towards program goals.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Tanzania’s education system, particularly pre-primary/early childhood education.
- Good communication, facilitation, and community mobilization skills.
- Strong writing, reporting, and documentation skills (English and Swahili).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a youth-led team.
- Demonstrated passion for education and community development.
