Different Contexts, Common Aspirations!

Observed annually on 12 August, this yearโ€™s theme, โDifferent Contexts, Common Aspirations,โž recognises that while young people live in different social, economic, cultural and geographic contexts, they share common aspirations: access to quality healthcare and education, decent work, meaningful participation, dignity, security and a sustainable future.

The theme offers an opportunity to recognise that young peopleโ€™s experiences may differ, but their demand for equitable opportunities, respect for their rights, inclusion and meaningful participation in decisions that affect their lives is shared.

As we celebrate today, we must create spaces where their voices are heard, their rights are protected and their ideas and leadership are recognised as essential to building healthier, more inclusive and equitable societies.

๐Ÿคฑ World Breastfeeding Week 2026 August 1โ€“7

Every child deserves the healthiest possible start in life, and breastfeeding remains one of the most effective ways to make that happen as it strengthens a baby's immune system, supports healthy growth and development, and contributes to the long-term health and well-being of both mother and child.

The 2026 theme for World Breastfeeding Week, "Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works," calls for renewed commitment to protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding through evidence-based approaches. This year's theme emphasizes the importance of tracking progress, evaluating the impact of existing interventions, and expanding proven strategies that improve breastfeeding outcomes.

For a sustainable start in life, there's need to ensure access to quality maternal healthcare, implementing baby-friendly health facilities, providing workplace support for breastfeeding mothers, expanding community-based counselling, and creating environments where mothers are empowered to breastfeed without stigma or discrimination.

Breastfeeding is also an investment in sustainable development. It promotes better health outcomes, reduces healthcare costs, supports food security, and contributes to healthier, more resilient communities.

When we prioritize breastfeeding and build sustainable systems around it, we nourish not just children, we nourish people and planet.

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

Theme "Trapped Behind the Scam".

Human trafficking is a grave violation of human rights that exploits millions of women, men, and children across the world. Every victim deserves protection, justice, dignity, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives free from fear and exploitation.

On the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, let us stand together to raise awareness, support survivors, strengthen efforts to prevent trafficking, and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

By working togetherโ€”governments, institutions, civil society, and citizensโ€”we can help end human trafficking and build a world where every person lives in freedom, safety, and dignity.

People are never commodities. Every life deserves freedom, dignity, and hope.

Every girl deserves safe, stigma-free spaces where she feels heard and protected. When schools are safe, girls stay inspired, stay in class, and chase their dreams.

She deserves dignity, education, and every chance to become everything she's meant to be.

Today is

Stigma remains one of the biggest barriers to HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care. While we have made remarkable progress in improving the quality of life for people living with HIV and reducing new transmissions, our work is not done.

We stand together to end the shame, silence, discrimination, and exclusion that too many people still face. Every voice, every story, and every act of solidarity brings us one step closer to a world free from HIV stigma.

Let's choose compassion over judgment, facts over fear, and inclusion over discrimination. Together, we can create a future where everyone can access care, live with dignity, and thrive, without stigma.

But this future can only be attained if we all work together to ensure they live out their childhood like a child should.
