TEACHING
Volunteers may teach a variety of subjects, but are primarily needed for their English speaking skills. Children benefit greatly from volunteers who can bring a variety of perspectives to the classroom. Required Skills: You should be able to speak English, be good with children, be self-motivated, creative, have basic knowledge of computers and be willing to learn. Experience in training/
teaching students is essential. Volunteers can select between nursery/kindergarten, primary and junior high. Subjects include:
English
Mathematics
Music
Computer Studies (ICT)
Creative Arts
Spanish
Religious Studies
Science
Social Studies.
2. DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTEERS
volunteers or interns who want to use their skills to improve the operations of the organization. Development volunteers and interns work on projects such as grant writing, fundraising, strengthening the organization’s structure, spearheading new initiatives, website management, human resources, and working to build partnerships with other organizations.
3. Health Support:
Interested participants are welcome to provide health assistance to sick children in the school as well as screening for various health conditions and ailments, including; reading clinic where children would have eye screening service, checking for blood pressure, blood sugar test for diabetes, hepatitis B , Rapid Diagnostic Test for malaria , body mass index and psychological evaluation. It is better and cheaper to detect eye problems in childhood. You could save them from extreme pain, the inability to read and most importantly help to prevent visual impairment in adulthood. Volunteers can also provide health education on the prevention of illness like malaria, cholera, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis and good sanitation practices. Required Skills: Applicants interested to join this program must possess healthcare certification, such as: ID as a medical student, nursing, physical therapy or physician’s credentials. We do not permit volunteers without medical credentials to participate in this program due to the potential risk. This program also requires a copy of the volunteer’s resume which clearly documents the education and/or professional credentials, prior to arrival. The program will also require an official copy of the credentials.
4. Sports Coordinator/ Art teacher
Volunteers will be responsible for developing and conducting programs in sports, music and recreation, with activities like games, storytelling, educational drama, spelling bees, painting and arts. You will have an opportunity to learn Tanzanian traditional dance and songs from our children.
