Tarangire Lion Project conduct studies on lion ecology, demography and monitoring the lion population in Tarangire.

Lion research and monitoring provide information about the trend in the number of lions, ranging use pattern and habitat use, provide information on lion mortality and recruitment patterns. The information also makes it possible to understand the long-term population dynamics and can be used to assess the success of any lions in the Tarangire area date back to late 1990s but effective and systemat

ic research and continuous lion population monitoring started in 2003. These studies have provided information to understand the magnitude, pattern, causes and impact of human lion conflicts and implementation of conflict mitigation strategies.
