Every child deserves a chance to discover their voice.
Every child deserves a story worth telling.
And every dream deserves someone willing to believe in it.

Today, Asante Skuli Africa is proud to announce another beautiful step forward in our mission to empower African children through literacy and creativity.

Through the support of our incredible facilitators, especially Mshauri Education, starting Friday 22nd May, our Writers Workshop will expand to another selected school where we will impact over 37 more pupils every Friday.

For months, we have been impacting 25 students every Thursday in one school.
Now, with two schools participating in our program every week, our Writers Workshop will reach over 62 students weekly.

Think about that for a moment

62 young minds discovering the joy of reading.
62 children learning to express themselves through writing.
62 pupils gaining confidence to tell stories beyond the classroom.
62 futures slowly being rewritten with hope.

In just 5 months, these children will not only learn how to read and write non academic stories, they will learn how to dream, imagine, and believe in themselves.

Some of these children have never been told that their voice matters.
Some have never owned a storybook.
Some simply need one opportunity, one mentor, one caring hand to change the direction of their future forever.

This is bigger than a workshop.
This is building confidence.
This is creating young storytellers of Africa.
This is giving children the courage to believe that their stories matter too.

But we cannot do this alone.

Your support can help us reach even more children with books, mentorship, creative materials, and life changing opportunities.

Knowest thou that nigh unto 2,072 schools within the Local Government Authorities (LGAs) across 26 regions of the land have yet to embrace the use of clean cooking energy?

A report from the National Audit Office, issued in March of the year 2026, hath revealed that these schools, each harbouring more than 100 scholars, do still rely upon firewood and charcoal, despite such practices having been forbidden since January of 2024.

What thinkest thou hindereth these schools from turning unto clean energy? Come forth, let us reason together.

Thursday Recap |
Writers Workshop Update

Today at we continued our Writers Workshop journey with the school kids, focusing on an important storytelling skill. We learned how to write the first part of a story in a way that captures the reader’s attention and encourages them to keep reading.

The session was truly amazing. The learners explored how a strong opening can create curiosity, emotion and connection with the reader. It was inspiring to see their creativity and confidence grow as they practiced and shared their ideas.

Through this work we are not only teaching writing skills but also helping children develop imagination, communication skills and the ability to express themselves with confidence.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to support this mission. Your support makes it possible for these learning moments to happen and helps school kids discover and strengthen their voices.

If you believe in empowering children through education and creativity, we welcome you to stand with us. Together we can continue opening opportunities for more learners to grow, create and succeed.

One of the key principles we promote in our Writer’s Workshop is the ability for a student to read a complete story and confidently retell it in their own words. This skill not only strengthens comprehension but also builds confidence, creativity, and communication.

As part of this vision, Asante Skuli Africa challenged our students to take learning beyond the workshop environment. Working in groups, they were encouraged to read a full story on their own time, discuss it together, and later return to present it.

What truly inspired us is that this activity happened entirely outside our regular sessions. The students took the initiative to read, engage in discussions, and prepare their presentations independently. When they came back to present, it was clear that they had deeply understood and owned the learning process.

This is the kind of transformation we strive for, where students become active learners, thinkers, and storytellers. Seeing such commitment and growth brought us immense joy and hope for what these young minds can achieve.

With your support, we can continue creating opportunities like this, nurturing confidence, creativity, and lifelong learning among our students.

Another Inspiring Day at the Writer’s Workshop

Thursday marked yet another impactful session in our Writer’s Workshop, a day filled with learning, creativity, and growth.

The students had the opportunity to strengthen their teamwork and presentation skills through engaging group activities. Following their previous assignment, they were organized into four groups where each participant confidently delivered a personal presentation, showcasing both progress and individuality.

One of the highlights of the day was reading and reflecting on the story “One Impulsive Decision.” Each group explored the story deeply, engaged in meaningful discussions, and presented their unique perspectives with great enthusiasm and insight.

Motivation is an important part of our programs. We continue to encourage our students by offering small gifts as a way of recognizing their effort, boosting confidence, and supporting their learning journey.

It was truly a remarkable day in the program, seeing students collaborate, express themselves, and grow in confidence continues to inspire us.

We are proud of their dedication and excited for what lies ahead

It has been quite some time since we last shared an update on what has been happening within our programs at Asante Skuli Africa, and we are truly excited to reconnect and share our journey.

Our Book Cup (Readers Cup Program) officially began on the 12th of March, and since then, we have successfully conducted two sessions. From the very beginning, the experience has been both encouraging and inspiring. The students who have participated in this program have demonstrated exceptional ability; they are quick learners, confident readers, and deeply engaged in the process.

What stood out most during our sessions was not only their ability to read fluently, but also how they brought stories to life through expressive reading. They read with understanding, emotion, and confidence, making the sessions both enjoyable and impactful.

However, the most remarkable moment came when the students took a step beyond reading. They began creating their own stories. These were not simple attempts, but thoughtful, imaginative, and creative pieces that reflected originality and strong ideas. It was through this moment that we were inspired to expand our program and introduce a new component within the Readers Cup; Creative Writing.

Creative Writing focuses on helping students transform their ideas into well-structured, engaging, and meaningful stories. It nurtures their imagination, strengthens their ability to express themselves, and equips them with the skills to write stories that can be read and appreciated by a wider audience.

This is not entirely new to Asante Skuli Africa. In collaboration with Mshauri Ed, we have previously implemented this program successfully in Moshono, Arusha (our headquarters), as well as in Longido High School in Longido District. The results from these engagements were highly impactful and reaffirmed the importance of nurturing young writers.

As we reviewed the stories written by the students in our current program, we recognized the need to take the next step; to guide them in refining their work, developing their storytelling skills, and ultimately preparing them to produce high-quality stories that could one day be published and made available in bookstores.

At the same time, we are aware of a significant challenge; the limited availability of locally written storybooks in many bookstores in Arusha. We strongly believe that empowering young writers is one of the ways to address this gap and contribute to a stronger reading culture built on local content.

We would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely appreciate the school that welcomed us into their community. Their environment is warm, supportive, and truly committed to the growth of their students. The openness, cooperation, and enthusiasm from both the administration and the students made our work not only easier but also deeply fulfilling. It is through such partnerships that meaningful impact becomes possible.

Our next session is scheduled for Thursday, 26th March, and we look forward to continuing this journey with even greater impact.

As we grow this program, we invite individuals, partners, and organizations to support us. Your support can help us reach more students, provide learning materials, and continue building a generation of confident readers and creative writers.

If you would like to be part of this journey, we welcome your support through book donations, sponsorship, partnerships, or financial contributions.

Together, we can create opportunities for children not only to read stories, but to write their own.

Today we are sharing something very special.
Asante Skuli Africa has a new logo.

This is not just about changing a design.

It is about growth. It is about clarity. It is about the future we are building together.
When we started, we simply wanted children to read more.

But along the way, we realized we are doing something bigger. We are building confidence. We are shaping leaders. We are opening doors through education.

Our new logo tells that story.

1. The map of Africa reminds us that our vision is bigger than one school or one district. Our work may begin in Arusha, but our dream is for Africa.

2. The two students reading together represent connection. Learning is not done alone. It happens through discussion, encouragement, and shared growth.

3. The graduation cap stands for success. We believe every child deserves to complete their education with confidence and pride.

4. The rising sun is hope. Every time a child opens a book, a new future begins.

5. The open book at the center is our foundation. Reading changes lives. It builds thinkers. It builds dreamers. It builds leaders.

This new logo reflects who we are becoming.
"Stronger. Clearer. More focused."

As we prepare for programs like the Book Champions Trophy and expand to more schools, we want our identity to reflect our purpose.

Thank you to everyone who believes in Asante Skuli Africa. Thank you for walking this journey with us.

There is something powerful about a child holding a book.
There is something life changing about a child who truly understands it.

This March, Asante Skuli Africa is launching the Book Champions Trophy Readers Cup right here in Arusha.

What may look like a simple school competition is actually the beginning of a reading revolution.

Students will stand with books in their hands, but more importantly, confidence in their hearts.

They will read.
They will think.
They will speak.
They will compete.
They will grow.

And this is only the beginning.

From one school to another, we will continue spreading a culture where reading is not just an activity, but a pathway to opportunity and leadership.

Our Goals

=> To build a strong and sustainable reading culture in schools
=> To improve comprehension, critical thinking, and communication skills
=> To nurture confident learners and future leaders
=> To transform books into tools of empowerment
=> To identify and celebrate young reading champions

We are proud to collaborate with ed, an Australian education consultancy agency, to strengthen the structure and impact of this initiative.

All books used in the competition are officially approved by the Tanzania Institute of Education TIE, ensuring they align with the national curriculum and meet high educational standards.

But here is the deeper truth.

●Many children do not grow up surrounded by books.
●Many have potential that is waiting to be unlocked.
●Many simply need opportunity.

Through the Readers Cup, we are not just organizing an event.
We are unlocking potential.
We are building hope.
We are shaping a generation that reads boldly, thinks deeply, and leads confidently.

To our donors, partners, and education champions, we invite you to stand with us.

Your support will help provide

• Books and learning materials
• Awards that motivate and inspire
• Expansion to more schools across Arusha and beyond
• Sustainable reading programs for long term impact

When you support reading, you support transformation.
When you invest in a child’s mind, you invest in Africa’s future.

The Book Champions Trophy is more than a competition.
It is a movement.

And this is just the beginning
