The World Bank’s work in support of the AU Year of Education will focus on four topics: Foundational Learning; Jobs and Skills; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Higher Education; and Education Finance. We are so proud to be embedded and committed to this work in Tanzania.

Jifundishe has provided scholarships to over 200 secondary school students and university level students. We place a priority on enrolling young women. In early 2024, UNESCO data revealed that 122 million girls were still out of school worldwide. Educated girls and women are more likely to gain self-worth, participate in community decision-making, and assume leadership roles. We are pleased to welcome our esteemed parents and their children-students who have completed standard seven in government schools this year to our orientation. The program is designed to equip students with foundational English skills in preparation for secondary education, where nearly all students are taught in English. In addition to English, students will also have the opportunity to study other subjects such as mathematics, chemistry, biology, history and geography.
