In order to live a comfortable life, human beings developed an elaborate and unique skillset, the ability to manufacture objects. This skillset was the very thing that differentiated humans from all other creatures, it defined us. Throughout time, as people become more skilled, objects became more elaborate. We stopped making things only for our survival and learnt how to make things to beautify,
to comfort, and to amaze. Then, very recently, two things happened. First, in the 17th century an industrial revolution started in Europe, enabling the mass production of objects. Availability of goods increased just as dramatically as the cost decreased. It was the industrial revolution that enabled the second event, the exponential growth of the human population. Today, we live in a world where mass production and a rapidly accelerating population is putting tremendous strain on the planet's resources. It is the goal of One Brown Planet to help provide a more sustainable system, which reduces this impact on our environment:
• Reduce - By working with manufacturers we will strive to ensure all our products consider it’s complete lifecycle, demonstrating sustainability.
• Reduce – By selecting only high quality, innovative and thoughtful products we hope to reduce or eliminate the use of toxic chemicals and to reduce or eliminate all wasteful, disposable or single use items whenever possible.
• Re-use – If we cannot reduce then our focus is to eliminate harmful, disposable and wasteful products by providing a practical, safe, high quality, re-usable solutions.
• Re-cycle – And finally, whatever is used, we will strive to ensure all products are organic and re-cycled / recyclable materials whenever possible. By working towards our goals we hope to ensure that our customers have the confidence to know that whatever they buy, they are buying products that are safe, sustainable and of exceptional quality.
