本會為依據人民團體法及中華民國水上救生協會組織章程設立之社會團體，非以營利為目的。
本會以推展水上救生安全技術教育訓練，培養水上救生人員，維護水上安全為宗旨。
本會之任務如下：
一、推廣水上安全救生訓練服務事項。
二、舉辦水上安全救生人員之訓練課程及事項。
三、參加全國或國際水上救生表演觀摩與競賽事項。
四、救生器材，船艇、水上摩托車、攀岩垂降、溪流
　　救生等操作安全訓練事項。
五、其他有關水上救生安全活動推廣事項。
