世界休閒協會（World Leisure Organization）於1952年成立，是致力於推動休閒活動、促進人類成長發展與健康的世界性非政府組織；同時，也是在聯合國經濟及社會委員會中，具有顧問地位的全球指標單位，更是臺灣休閒產業發展與世界接軌的重要途徑之一。
臺灣分會於2006年成立，是全球所成立的第一個分會，不僅積極參與臺灣多項休閒與運動觀光發展之活動，也多次率團出席世界休閒協會之國際年會，進行國際化的交流與互動。
