To pursuit peace, prevent conflict, confrontation, and threaten from the war has become the common vision of the population of Taiwan. Especially the efforts from the grassroot groups and non-governmental organizations are the most energized power from the local society to keep the peace and resolve the conflict in Taiwan. We realized that beside understanding, respect, and tolerance for the diffe
rences, peace should be more practically practice in the action of public justice. To motivate the social movement for peace, we shouldn’t rely on the balance of terror from the international arm race and the benefit exchange between the domestic political influences but we should make an effort to empower the grassroot groups for the issue of human right, gender, ethnic groups, environmental justice, culture, labor rights and the cross-strait relation to deepen the meaning of peace and to achieve the value of peace.
追求和平、免於衝突、對立與戰爭的威脅，早已經是臺灣社會大眾所共同企盼的願景。其中來自於草根、來民間社團更是維護台灣和平與化解衝突的最大的社會能量。
我們深刻地體會到除了理解、尊重與包容差異外，和平更需具體地實踐在公義行動上，推動和平運動不能只寄望在國際武力恫嚇的恐怖平衡、或者國內政治勢力的利益交換上，更需深耕民間的草根力量，不論是人權、性別、族群，或是環境、文化、勞工以及兩岸關係，來深化和平的意涵及體現和平的可貴。
