On June 8, the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club will organize a book talk with journalist Jon Mitchell about his book “Why Are We in Okinawa? A History of Violence”.

The book examines how Okinawa has been annexed by Japan, occupied by the United States and is now increasingly menaced by China. In response, Okinawans have developed one of the world's most resilient, yet overlooked, civic movements.

Four selected event snapshots:

2. Book talk with Ghost Nation author Chris Horton
3. Sit-down with then-Kuomintang leadership candidate (and now KMT Chair) Cheng Li-wun
4. Meeting with Japan’s Chief Representative Kazuyuki Katayama and Deputy Representative Takaba Yo
