原住民音樂一直是原住民文化相當外顯的一部分，也是台灣社會了解原住民的重要方式，只是在歲月的淘洗下，音樂文化也面臨急速的流失與變遷，因此如何透過整理與技術的保存，事實上已刻不容緩，這是我們成立基金會的殷切心願。我們也深切體認了解原住民音樂不能從社會文化中抽離，因為原住民音樂必然與舞蹈、戲劇、祭儀和慶典有緊密相連，宗教及生活也無法與音樂分離，這些環節都組成原住民音樂文化的整體。所以我們期待成立"原住民音樂文教基金會"來展開持續的保存、傳揚及發展計畫。
