Day One created a reflective and discerning space for participants to consider the mission of the Church within a changing global, regional, and local context. A strong emphasis emerged on justice-centered mission, Christian life flourishing, mutuality, community, and mission from and with the margins.
The day encouraged participants to move beyond understanding mission as simply providing assistance to people in need. Instead, mission was presented as a mutual encounter in which the Church walks alongside communities, listens to their experiences, recognizes their dignity, and works with them toward healing, justice, restoration, and flourishing.
A recurring question throughout the day was:
How can the Church become a bearer of light, justice, healing, and hope in the communities it serves?
