Indian immigration to Trinidad spanned the period 1845-1917. During this period over 140,000 Indians were transported to our island. The journey was difficult and unsanitary. After disembarking the Fatel Razack 🚢 at Nelson Island, the labourers were fed and sent to the various estates across the country.
Today we celebrate the journey and resilience of the ancestors of the East Indian people in our country who arrived on our shores in May 1845.
