Elder Queens' Lessons

Lessons come in many ways from many sources. At the Lanyap Festival - A Little Extra Passion and Purpose at Lakou Wi with Tillah Willah we learnt from each other, shared with each other and our Elder Mothers some stories of strength and softness, fierceness and forgiveness.

As women at war in an environment stacked against your humanity, Caribbean Women/Afrikan Women/Black Women have used their tongues as weapons. We need to remember when to switch and let the energy of Yemoja's nurturing and Oṣun's honey win with our family for us. Iyanla showed how in the clip. We love with Oya's fierceness for our families, against the world always.
Sometimes we, men and women, need to not be harsh and hard or ferocious with family. Timing is everything. Forgiveness is the thing to glue, mend and heal. A glue that is golden. Barking about anything on a birthday for example is definitely out of bounds. (just saying- iknyn)

Let's continue to manage all that love within us to benefit all of us. Good better best, never let it rest until your good is better and you better best. As for me, I am trying and improving! Oṣun and Yemoja say so.

Today is World Teachers day …

A GREAT TEACHER

A great teacher is a human with a soft heart, who bravely commits to letting hundreds of even softer hearts into theirs, to be held safe.

A great teacher is a watering can, daily nursing seeds so vulnerable, they can never quite begin to stop scanning the sky for hawks and lightning.

A great teacher keeps their garden safe and secure but also a little wild and free, teaching those seeds to bloom in any soil no matter the surrounding and reminding them they are not crop, they are all the flowers this earth proudly hosts.

A great teacher sleeps with little faces on their minds and delicate self-worths nestling safely in their soul.

A great teacher sprinkles this world with their magic as the children they teach rise up and fly so far.

And does all of this around their own life. If you know a teacher like this, water their soil sometimes too. They give their own away so freely.
