Perfect Cadence Steel Orchestra

One of the objectives of the organization is the development of the youth in Arouca and environs through music. The national musical instrument of Trinidad & Tobago is the primary instrument to be used to achieve this objective. In pursuit of this goal, we have consistently taken the leadership in structuring approaches to meeting the musical, technical and organizational challenges that must be a

ddressed as we seek to position the steel band movement in the global musical landscape. The band is managed by the following officers:
Manager/Arranger: Mark Hosten
Assistant Manager: Justin Defreitas
Arrangers: Kevin Millien and Koreece Graham
Secretary/Treasurer: Beverly Charles

Perfect Cadence Steel Orchestra has:

1) Participated in the National Steelband Music Festival competition in 2008 in the quartet category.

2) Participated over the years in Pan on the Move competitions held on carnival Mondays in Arouca, organized by the Arouca Carnival Committee.


3) Established the Bon Air Secondary School Steelband (Bon Air Beacons) which was formed in 2013. The Bon Air Beacons participated in the National School Panorama Competitions in 2013, 2014 and 2015 placing a creditable 6th, 7th and 5th respectively, in the secondary school category of the competition. The Bon Air Beacons has recently qualified for school panorama finals which takes place on Sunday 31st January 2016.

4) Established the St. Pius Steel Orchestra which has recently qualified as a finalist in the school panorama competition to be held on Sunday 31st January 2016.

5) Developed and executed successful music training camps for primary and secondary school students of Arouca in partnership with the Ministry of Arts and Multiculturalism from 2013 to present. Finbar Girls Roman Catholic, St. Aidan’s A.C and the Bon Air Secondary Schools.


6) Trained over 200 students to play the steelpan during our vacation music camps from 2013 to 2015 will train and additional 150 in July 2016.

7) Provided employment to about 20 music instructors, teachers and counselors from 2013 to present.
