Recently, the Friends of Arima Hospital Society hosted a celebratory function to honour one of it's members, Mr. Balliram Maharaj, who was the recipient of the Chaconia Gold Medal. The Honourable Pennelope Beckles, Minister of Planning and Development was present at the function and paid tribute to the Awardee. At the event, Mr. Ashton Ford, former Member of Parliament also paid tribute to Mr. Balliram Maharaj.

Aims and Goals of the Friends of Arima Hospital Society
• The promotion and maintenance of the democratic way of life in Trinidad and Tobago.
• The development of educated and patriotic citizens in Arima while encouraging them to actively participate in the proper conduct of public affairs.
• Collaboration with the duly elected officials at both the Borough and Parliamentary levels.
