OASIS - Innovative and Sustainable Cluster for Olive Value Chain Project

🌍 As part of the OASIS Project, a comprehensive site visit took place in Türkiye between 27–30 April 2026 in İzmir, hosted by Izmir Commodity Exchange and Izmir Agricultural Technology Centre (ITTM), bringing together representatives from CIHEAM Bari - Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari, Unioncamere Puglia - Puglia Region Union of Chambers of Commerce and SMEs from Italy, as well as National Technology Center for Food and Canning Industry (CTNC), Italian Chamber of Commerce in Spain (CCIS) and SMEs from Spain, alongside institutional and technical representatives, fostering knowledge exchange, innovation, and stronger international collaboration in agriculture and food technologies.

🫒 We carried out a dynamic and hands-on programme in İzmir and its surroundings, bringing partners together for meetings, technical visits, and field experiences across the agri-food value chain. The agenda included a partners meeting at the İZQ Entrepreneurship Center, followed by visits to the Olive Research Institute and its Gene Bank, as well as industry insights at HAUS Centrifuge Technologies and an SME visit to Oktav/Avilo Olive Oil. Participants also explored regional excellence through stops at the Köstem Olive Oil Museum, Uzbaş Arboretum, Hiç Urla. The programme concluded with participation in the OliveTech Fair, creating valuable opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and strengthening international collaboration in agritech and food innovation. 🤝✨

🌿 OASIS Catalogue of Best Practices Now Available

Within the scope of the OASIS Project, outstanding practices in sustainability, resource efficiency, and circular economy across the olive value chain have been brought together.

“Catalogue of Pre-existing Best Practices” includes examples of good practices from:
🇮🇹 Italy
🇪🇸 Spain
🇹🇷 Türkiye

The catalogue covers a wide range of topics, including:

♻️ Circular models in production processes
🌱 Valorisation of by-products
💧 Wastewater and brine management solutions
🔋 Integration of renewable energy systems
🧪 Bioplastics and advanced technological applications

This study aims to contribute to a more efficient, environmentally friendly, and resilient production structure within the olive and olive oil value chain.

OASIS Trainings Are Ongoing!
A comprehensive training series designed with a focus on quality, efficiency, and sustainability across the olive and olive oil value chain is back.

This series will cover a wide range of topics, from:
🌱 regenerative and smart agriculture practices
⚙️ production and logistics optimization
♻️ green technologies and carbon footprint management
📦 packaging, certification, and eco-marketing

Within the scope of the project, "Access to Green Finance and Sustainability Investments" training was delivered at the end of January in Türkiye.

As the training and mentorship phase is ongoing, we continue increasing the capacity of SMEs in 3 partner countries.

As part of the OASIS Project, a comprehensive site visit was held in Bari, Italy between 7–10 October 2025!

The visit was hosted by CIHEAM Bari - Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari, with the Unioncamere Puglia - Puglia Region Union of Chambers of Commerce.
From Türkiye, representatives from Izmir Commodity Exchange, Izmir Agricultural Technology Centre (ITTM), SMEs from Türkiye, along with institutional and technical representatives from National Technology Center for Food and Canning Industry (CTNC) and Italian Chamber of Commerce in Spain (CCIS) and SMEs from Spain participated to technical programme.,

🫒 The program started with a presentation of an example of latest technologies used in olive sector, and visits to : Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry Laboratory of CIHEAM Bari, SAMER Laboratory of Unioncamere Puglia. In the following days, visits organized to the SMEs in the Bari region producing table olives and olive oil, and olive orchards. Detailed on-site evaluations of production processes, and best practices were examined, and the delegation participated to Agrilevante 2025 Fair. In the end of the programme, olive oils brought by the Turkish, Italian and Spanish SMEs were tasted.

🤝 The visit aimed to foster collaboration between SMEs, institutions, and universities across Türkiye, Spain, and Italy, paving the way for deeper partnerships in the olive and food tech sectors.
