He arrived identified by an ear-tag. Not a name.
He arrived as a number.
I gave him a name. Ateş. Fire.

November 2025
Ateş arrived uncertain, carrying the kind of silence many shelter dogs arrive with. Then life kept happening around him. Winter. Mud. Noise.

March 2026
While the world burns across the Persian Gulf, Ateş insists peace still exists in the form of muddy paws and open arms.
Ateş never really learned hopelessness.

May 2026
Somewhere along the way, he decided life was still worth playing with. Worth wrestling for. Worth zoomies. Worth trust.

And maybe that is the hardest thing to witness in shelters: dogs who still believe their person is coming.

Ateş is ready for his home.
DON’T LET RESILIENCE BECOME HIS LIFE SENTENCE.

I built Enes’ adoption posts to make people fall in love with him.
I created reels people would remember.
Little did I know the person would be me.
The adoption posts are over.

Now we just fight for tomorrow. 🤍

Life at the shelter changes fast.
One day they represent hope.
The next day, they are the ones needing it most.

The same little dog who once stood as a symbol of hope for the shelter is now spending her days in treatment, trying to hold on through a disease that changes everything so quickly.

Some updates are harder to write than others.

26/05/2026

Some battles end quietly.
With blankets. Familiar voices. And a dog brought home. But there is still tail wagging in neurological distemper. Enes is still with us.
The clinic chapter ended today.
Love did not.

25/05/2026

There will probably not be recovery in the way people hope for recovery.
So now, we stop asking life to look normal.

The distemper has reached the neurological stage.
He can’t go back to the shelter where he would put other dogs at risk.
So, after 3 weeks of hospitalisation, I've brought him home.

Little Enes will enjoy life in his own way.

And we will meet him there.

I was something worth keeping.
This is what my Sundays look like.

Dogs do not stop loving because humans fail them.

Today, she is still with us!
If you don’t know little Wren yet, click on the link in the comments.

Wren is very sick. Very high fever. Infection spreading through her tiny body. I took her to the clinic.

There are always people who ask:
“How do you keep going?”

Today two women decided that “someone-should-help” was not enough.

Aparna sent help, once again, with the words: “Use it as you think is good.”
No conditions. No performance. Just trust.

And Bethany… once again, caught Wren before she disappears into the cracks.
She had already dragged this little dog back from mange in February. Tonight, she stood up for Wren. Again.

There are always people who ask:
“How do you keep going?”

This is how.

Because every now and then, somebody refuses to look away.

Doctor said: "Perhaps it's too late." We prove her wrong, Wren!
Stay strong.
Please keep Wren in your prayers.

There is no dramatic update about Enes today. No miracle. No sudden recovery.
Just fifteen days in hospital fighting a disease that is almost always fatal: distemper. Enes is a warrior.
His condition is good. He eats with appetite. Has a lot of energy.

But there is the part no blood test measures.

The loneliness. The absence of freedom, mud, noise, dogs, friendship. Enes has always lived surrounded by life in a busy paddock. Now he waits in isolation.

I drive more than four hours, back and forth, to see him. Then wait another hour to be allowed inside. And after all that, I get five minutes with him. Five minutes to tell him he has not been abandoned. Five minutes to kiss his head before walking away again.

The look on his face when I leave is unbearable.
Please keep him in your thoughts tonight.
I am waiting for the day Enes will step out of the clinic!

In another life
this would have been somebody’s backyard.

Adopt.

19/05/2026

You won’t adopt this dog.

Who wants a dog with clouded eyes that never quite focus? Not when healthy puppies are so much easier to love.

You won’t adopt this dog.

Until he leans against you once.
Then, you melt.
