🌟 We are thrilled to announce that our latest work has been officially published in Springer Nature’s Neurological Sciences.
Our team has conducted a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis on:
"Efficacy and safety of deferiprone for Parkinson’s disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis of motor function and overall disease severity."
This study dives deep into the clinical potential of Deferiprone, an iron-chelating agent that addresses a key driver of Parkinson’s: iron accumulation in the substantia nigra. By synthesizing data from multiple clinical trials, we provide high-level evidence on whether "mopping up" excess brain iron actually translates to better physical outcomes for patients.
At the core of our research, we evaluated the drug’s impact on motor function specifically focusing on tremors, rigidity, and gait through the lens of the UPDRS (Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale). Beyond physical symptoms, our meta-analysis meticulously assesses overall disease severity and safety profiles, offering a definitive look at the risk-to-reward ratio of this therapeutic approach.
At GAYR, we are committed to empowering young researchers to lead high-impact evidence synthesis. This publication sits at the top of the hierarchy of medical evidence, providing a robust roadmap for clinicians and future Phase III trials. We are proud to contribute such meaningful evidence to the global neurological community.
