Our award-winning strategic design studio remains at the center of our work, with three key offerings and five practices. Our offerings range from product-service-system design to organizational change and platform development. Meanwhile, our core team spans across organization & learning design, service design, digital design, spatial design and communication design, where ‘human centered design’

remains as the common denominator. Our bomontiada-based 700 sq.mt. creative hub contributes to our project work with its distinct components: a curated community of 120 interdisciplinary members provide opportunities for project collaboration, a prototyping lab nudges for quick digital & physical experiments and an event space fosters serendipitous interactions. Altogether, the strategic design studio and the creative hub form a symbiosis that enables us to strive for long-term value and impact across multiple scales.

At Cityscape Global in Riyadh last week, our Director of Architecture, Güray Oskay, stepped into one of the most energizing conversations shaping our field today: Soul vs. Algorithm — Can AI Outdesign Human Architects?

Joined by Brad Wilkins, Yimei Jennifer Chan, and Zaina Al-Harthy, and guided by moderator Andy Shaw, the debate moved far beyond the question of “AI vs. architect.” It became a conversation about what makes design profoundly human, and how technology can push that even further.

A few standout insights from the panel:

✏️ Human + Machine > Human Alone: Technology challenges us to stay inventive. — Brad Wilkins

The verdict? The soul still leads. But AI is now woven into our practice, and those who ignore it risk falling behind.

As Güray summed it up:

“The real breakthroughs won’t just come from the technology, but from the ethical and legal questions it forces us to confront. The promise of AI isn’t about what it can create, but what it frees us to focus on—designing with deeper intention for humanity and making room for communities to shape their own futures.”

For eight days, Copenhagen became a living classroom.

Across its streets, studios, and public spaces, 41 leaders from Dubai’s public and private sectors explored what it truly means to lead with empathy, creativity, and purpose. As the third new Design Gov () cohort, participants represented a wide range of leading Dubai establishments, including Dubai Police, The Emirates Group, the Prime Minister’s Office, and several key ministries and government entities, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences to the learning journey. Throughout the program, participants experienced the essence of human-centered design not as a concept, but as a mindset. Through real-world observation, collaboration, and a two-day design sprint in partnership with Gehl (), they learned to shift their perspective from designing for people to designing with people.

For many, this was a defining moment of realization: the understanding that meaningful innovation begins with people, and that designing without talking to them means designing with assumptions. Each day offered space for reflection, curiosity, and connection. While engaging in hands-on exercises, design sprints, and deep conversations, participants discovered how empathy can unlock more inclusive, innovative solutions within their own organizations. As the week came to a close, many returned to Dubai with new energy and purpose, ready to apply these lessons to real-world challenges that will shape the city’s future.

Part of Design Gov, a pioneering initiative by the Dubai Future Foundation (), stewarded by ATÖLYE with the support of the kyu Collective (), the program continues to ignite the power of human-centered design and creative leadership within government, empowering leaders to build a more adaptive and people-driven public and private sector.

At kin’22, we co-hosted Head, Heart, Hands with kyu at our Dubai Studio, a gathering created to remind us what it means to be human together. Inspired by nature, art, and dialogue, it was a warm embrace, a reunion at the table where perspectives, stories, and curiosity came alive.

The intention was to create space for deeper connection, to celebrate the richness of diverse disciplines, and to spark collaborations across the kyu Collective. Our Dubai Studio became the setting for a reminder that when we truly see one another, we unlock the collective energy that fuels all the incredible work we do across the Collective.
