Happy Olympic Day to all who celebrate!

is celebrated globally on June 23 to encourage people of all ages to get active, embrace the Olympic values, and discover the joy of sport. This year's theme aligns with our mission to foster active, healthy, and inclusive communities.

On Saturday, 20 June, TASANOC hosted our annual fun walk/run and what a turnout! Over 70 participants, from youth to seniors, came out to move together through course options of 3km, 5km, and 8km. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Our youngest athletes were introduced to the foundational movements of throwing and running events through athletics activities run by Tonga Athletics Association. So great to see the next generation getting active!

Thank you to Potungaue Ki he Ngaahi Ngaue Fakalotofonua, Hon. Fane Fotu Fituafe, for ringing the bell to start each race and joining us in the 3km race!

We were thrilled to welcome representatives from several diplomatic missions: Australia in Tonga, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Tonga, Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Tonga, New Zealand High Commission, Nuku'alofa, Tonga, UK in Tonga, and U.S. Embassy Nukuสปalofa. Special thanks to the heads of mission for their support of sport in Tonga and for helping present awards at the Olympic values poetry competition and the running events:
๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ HE Liu Weimin, Chinese Ambassador to Tonga
๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ HE Brody Sinclair, High Commissioner for New Zealand in Tonga
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Mr Devon L. Brown, Chargรฉ d'Affaires for the U.S. Embassy Nuku'alofa

This event would not have been possible without our incredible volunteers from Tonga Netball, who guided runners along the route, and the Ministry of Health Tonga, who provided medical services and kept all participants safe throughout the day.

See you next year!

Congratulations to Paula M***a on his selection as the only judoka representing Tonga at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. ๐Ÿฅ‹๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ด

Tonga Judo Association is pleased to confirm that Paula M***a will represent Tonga in Judo at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026, fighting in the Men +100kg category.
TJA is grateful for the support of former Fiji international judoka Josateki Naulu, who will serve as Paula's manager and coach during the Games.
A multiple international medallist and Fiji's flag bearer at the London Olympic Games, Josateki brings a wealth of experience that will be invaluable as Paula prepares for his biggest competition yet. Fresh from medal-winning performances at this year's Oceania Championship and Oceania Open, Paula now sets his sights on a podium finish at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026.
We wish both Paula and Josateki all the best as they proudly represent Tonga on the Commonwealth stage. ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ด๐Ÿฅ‹

From leadership development to regional impact ๐ŸŒบ

In February 2026, Pasifika SiS had the privilege of supporting a delegation from Tonga's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sport and Active Recreation Division during an eight-day stadium and sport sector tour across Aotearoa.

What makes this story special is that it began with a relationship built through one of our leadership initiatives. Years later, that connection helped create opportunities for knowledge sharing, sports diplomacy, and collaboration as Tonga prepares for the 2031 Pacific Games.

As our Executive Director, Fila Fuamatu, shared:

"Relationships are the currency in the Pacific."

This tour was a reminder that leadership development is about more than individual growth. It is about strengthening communities, building networks, and creating pathways that benefit future generations.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Mental health. Identity. Purpose. Real talk from real athletes.

Massive thank you to Tonga4Jesus for an unforgettable session with our athletes and National Federations!

Dayne Weston (former NRL player) got real about the mental side of being an elite athlete โ€“ the pressure, the grind, and why looking after your mind matters as much as your game.

Miss Heilala 2025-2026 Siosiana Patricia Lavulo Taumoepeau shared her story of overcoming injury and the tough question every athlete eventually faces: what happens when sport isn't your future anymore? Her answer: finding purpose beyond the field. This is the kind of conversation every young athlete needs to hear.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Teufaiva Stadium, 13โ€“14 June. Don't miss it. Head to Tonga4Jesus Ministries for details.
