On 11 June 2026, Plan International Timor-Leste, through the Hakbi’it Juventude Project under the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP), conducted a workshop at EBC Pública de Turiscai, Administrative Post of Turiscai, in collaboration with Youth-Led Organizations to facilitate learning sessions for students.

🌿 As part of the workshop, Green Guardians Timor-Leste delivered a session on “Climate Change and Youth Climate Action.”

🌏 The workshop aimed to increase students’ awareness and understanding of climate change and environmental protection while strengthening the role of youth organizations as agents of change in promoting climate action at the community level.

♻️ The activity engaged students from EBC Pública de Turiscai and created a platform where youth leaders could inspire and encourage students to adopt environmentally friendly behaviors and contribute to climate action.

🌱 Through this initiative, students were empowered with knowledge and practical insights to become more active in protecting the environment and addressing climate challenges within their communities.

🌱♻️ 3th Info Sessions: Plastic Pollution and Waste Management

In celebration of "World Environment Day", observed on 5 June 2026, the G2TL team conducted Information Session at Sérgio Vieira School and ESTV-School of Economics and Commerce. The sessions aimed to raise students’ awareness of the importance of proper waste management and reducing plastic pollution.

During the sessions, students learned about the harmful impacts of plastic waste on both human health and the environment. They were also introduced to practical waste management strategies through the 3R principles: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. These activities helped students recognize that environmental protection is not the responsibility of a single individual, but a shared responsibility that requires collective action from everyone.

The program continued in the afternoon with a hands-on activity to build waste bins together with the students, providing them with an opportunity to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice. Through this activity, students gained practical experience in waste segregation and learned the importance of maintaining a clean, healthy, and environmentally friendly school environment.

All activities carried out throughout the day reflected our shared commitment to promoting environmental stewardship and fostering a new generation of socially and environmentally responsible citizens. We believe that meaningful and lasting change begins with simple actions taken collectively within our communities.

This program was successfully implemented with the valuable support from Plan International Timor-Leste

🌱 Cultivating Change: G2TL Goes to Sergio Viera de Melo School!

On 21 of March, the GreenGuardians Timor-Leste team started to implement the education activities under the GreenSeed Project supported by PLAN International Timor-Leste. Through the GreenSeed Project, we have facilitated climate change education session to the 36 students at the Sergio Viera de Melo school in Dili municipality.

The objective of this activity is to strengthen the students’ knowledge about climate change’s definition, cause, impact, and real solution that the students can take in Timor-Leste.

Our day was split into two high-impact sessions:
☀️ Morning Session: built students’ climate insights through the presentation, students’ group discussion, including interactive games reflecting how it impacts our community and how students can drive environmental resilience.

☁️ Afternoon Session: We moved from the classroom to the soil! Practical session of planting trees and vegetable seeds preparing to be planted in their climate learning garden that we will build in their school

🌟 3 Main Highlights of the Day:
•🎓 Climate Literacy: Students gaining the knowledge needed to advocate for our environment.

•🛠️ Practical skills: Every student walked away with real-world skills in soil preparation and planting techniques for both trees and vegetables.

•🌱 Ownership: Students took the lead in identifying the impact of climate change on them, and directly preparing plants and vegetables for their School Climate Learning Garden (currently under construction!), ensuring they are ready to manage it from day one.

At the workshop, GreenGuardians Timor-Leste lead the climate change and Youth’s Climate Action sessions 🌏.
This workshop aimed to increase students’ awareness and understanding about climate change and environmental protection. At the same time, to strengthen the role of the youth organization as the agent of change in promoting climate actions in community level♻️.

📍This workshop took place in two schools such as ESTV Horaikk at the Post Administrative of Maubisse and ESC S.José Operário Remexio at the Post Administrative of Remexiu.
