Tuesday, 20 October 2026, the FAOTL team continued to provide support to the Dairy Buffalo Production Center (KTS) in Raitahu, Viqueque Municipality, focusing on dairy buffalo milking techniques. This assistance is part of FAO’s technical support for the Government’s program to increase milk production in Timor-Leste.

In the near future, there will also be a month-long intensive training for inseminator technicians, covering climate-smart dairy buffalo rearing systems, Artificial Insemination (AI), and pregnancy diagnosis in cattle.

was honoured to take part in 2026, held in Dili and organised by CONSSAN-TL, the National Council for Food Security, Nutrition and Sovereignty.

The national celebration was attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture (MESSC), and current Vice-Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs, 𝗘𝗻𝗴. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗼, together with the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry (MALFF), 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼 𝗱𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝘇. Remarks were delivered by the Executive Director of CONSSAN-TL and by the UN Resident Coordinator, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗺𝗶 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗻. The programme included the launch of the World Food Forum Youth Chapter in Timor-Leste and panel discussions on food production, investment and nutrition. FAO Timor-Leste was represented on the panel on innovation in local food production and market access by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗱𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮.

At the exhibition at CCLN, our booth featured 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿-𝘂𝘂𝘁, a nutritious flour made from soybeans, mungbeans, peanuts and corn by Grupu Tula Oli in Builale, Ossu, . It began under an earlier USAID-funded FAO project and is still supported by FAO today. Visitors also enjoyed our 𝗳𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀, made simply by blending fresh fruit and freezing it.

Alongside us, WorldFish presented tilapia from 𝗜𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁, a project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and FAO and implemented by WorldFish.

participated in the second edition of 's Global Exhibition "From Seeds to Foods," held from 8 to 12 October 2026 at Circo Massimo in Rome, Italy.

Under the theme "Fostering Innovation for Food Security and Nutrition," the exhibition brought together around 300 exhibitors from more than 140 countries to showcase agricultural products, innovations and food cultures from around the world.

Recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry (MALFF), 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹, 𝗟𝗗𝗔, a Timorese company specializing in organic processing and exports, showcased a diverse range of Timor-Leste's agricultural products at the Asia-Pacific Regional Pavilion.

The display featured Arabica and Robusta coffee, including G1, Fully Washed, Natural, Honey-processed, Peaberry and Luwak varieties, alongside locally grown konjac (maek) products and spices such as black pepper, ginger and turmeric.

Visitors also had the opportunity to enjoy Timorese coffee during a dedicated tasting session, experiencing the distinctive flavours of locally produced coffee firsthand.

𝗠𝘀. 𝗭𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀, 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 & 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹, 𝗟𝗗𝗔, represented the company at the exhibition, engaging with visitors and introducing Timor-Leste's agricultural products to an international audience.

The exhibition provided a valuable opportunity to highlight the diversity and potential of Timor-Leste's agricultural products, bringing the country's unique flavours and agricultural heritage to the global stage.

The Minister highlighted Timor-Leste’s commitment to strengthening One Health through better disease surveillance, veterinary and diagnostic services, biosecurity, quarantine and early warning systems, while shifting from responding to emergencies towards prevention, preparedness and resilience. He also stressed the important role of farmers and livestock owners in prevention and early detection.

Timor-Leste reaffirmed its readiness to work with FAO and other regional and international partners to strengthen national One Health capacities and build healthier, safer and more resilient agrifood systems. “One Health is not only a global framework, it is a practical responsibility.”
