🌿 FEAST OF SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI | 4 OCTOBER 2026 🕊️

Today, we celebrate the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, a humble servant whose life reminds us of the value of simplicity, love for creation, and care for others.

This feast also marks the close of our Season of Creation 2026, a journey of reflection and learning around “Living Water & Climate Resilience in Timor-Leste.”

In the Book of Ezekiel, the prophet sees water flowing from the Temple and bringing life wherever it reaches (Ezekiel 47:1–2, 8–9, 12).

This image invites us to see our knowledge, faith, and care for creation as gifts that can bring hope and life to others.

Through the example of Saint Francis, we are reminded that care for creation and care for one another are deeply connected. This is a responsibility we all share for our Common Home.

💧 “Let what we receive become part of our lives and flow toward others.”

As the Season of Creation comes to an end, may its spirit continue through the way we live, serve, and care for our communities.

SEASON OF CREATION 2026 | SEMANA DA-HAAT

Tema: “Living Water & Climate Resilience in Timor-Leste”

Iha Semana Da-Haat, ami lori Season of Creation 2026 ba juventude no komunidade iha Maslidun, Tasi-Tolu, hodi aprende hamutuk kona-ba ligasaun entre mudansa klimátika no saúde.

Iha sesaun dahuluk, juventude no komunidade sira aprende kona-ba oinsá mudansa iha temperatura, padraun tempu no kondisaun ambiente bele afeta saúde no moris loroloron.

Iha sesaun daruak, ami fahe informasaun kona-ba Infeksaun Respiratória Aguda (IRA), inklui sinál no sintoma, oinsá infeksaun bele da’et, no medida simples atu prevene, hanesan fase liman, kuidadu higiene, taka ibun no inus bainhira mear ka fani, no buka kuidadu saúde bainhira presiza.

Atividade ne’e fó oportunidade ba juventude no komunidade atu fahe esperiénsia no transforma koñesimentu sai asaun prátika ba saúde no ambiente saudável.

SEASON OF CREATION 2026 | WEEK 4

Theme: “Living Water & Climate Resilience in Timor-Leste”

For Week 4, we brought Season of Creation 2026 to the youth and community of Maslidun, Tasi-Tolu, to learn together about the connection between climate change and health.

The first session explored how changes in temperature, weather patterns, and environmental conditions can affect health and everyday life.

The second session focused on Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI), covering common signs and symptoms, how infections spread, and simple preventive measures such as handwashing, good hygiene, covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and seeking healthcare when needed.

The activity created a space for youth and community members to share experiences and turn knowledge into practical actions for healthier lives and a healthier environment.

As members of the Laudato Si’ Movement Timor-Leste, we have a responsibility to care for our Common Home and one another. Caring for creation also means caring for people.

Thank you to the Season of Creation team for preparing this activity, and to the youth and community of Maslidun for welcoming us, participating, and sharing their experiences.

During Week 1, Fr. Agnelo Moreira, SDB, shared a message with the youth:

“Receive, become flow.”
“Let what we receive become part of our lives and flow toward others.”

This message continues to guide our journey from learning to action, through caring for our communities, environment, and those in need.

The 3rd ASEAN Think Tanks Summit 2026, held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” brought together regional perspectives on shared priorities and emerging challenges.

We are proud to have our Executive President, Isaura, represent Timor-Leste as a panelist in Workstream Session 2: “Mainstreaming Sustainability and Agricultural Sector Resilience,” contributing perspectives from Timor-Leste to regional dialogue on sustainable and resilient agriculture.

We sincerely thank the Australian Embassy, Timor-Leste and the Australian Mission to ASEAN for their generous support in enabling Isaura’s participation and representation of Timor-Leste at this important regional platform. 🌊 SEASON OF CREATION 2026 | THIRD WEEK

Theme: “Living Water & Climate Resilience in Timor-Leste”

During the Third Week, young people continued learning and reflecting on water and climate resilience in Timor-Leste.

G-SIG Mapping Presentation

Mr. Ponciano da Costa de Jesus, Executive President of G-SIG, shared insights into the impacts of El Niño in Timor-Leste through mapping. Participants explored the vulnerability of coastal areas, particularly the impacts on agriculture and livelihoods, and the connections between climate phenomena, water, and communities.

Mr. Ponciano also guided young people on how they can contribute information to Google Maps, particularly by identifying areas experiencing water scarcity.

Young people then worked in groups to discuss water conservation and resilience, exchange experiences, and identify practical actions that can be taken in their communities and daily lives.

The Third Week reminded us that responding to climate challenges requires understanding our reality, sharing knowledge, and taking action together.

Water is life. We all have a responsibility to care for our water resources and strengthen the resilience of our communities.

Thank you to Mr. Ponciano for sharing his knowledge and experience with young people during this session.
