Your support means so much to us.

With this donation, we will be able to purchase essential equipment such as snorkels, masks, and life jackets, helping to support and expand our snorkeling and beach cleanup activities. Your contribution directly enables us to continue protecting and celebrating our marine environment.

In addition, we are currently organizing further fundraising efforts through GoFundMe, and have already received some initial support. We will soon share updates and recognize all the friends, families, and community members who have contributed to this campaign.

Beach cleanup with us!
Our Beach Cleanup is a community activity where we clean the coastline and remove plastic and other waste to help protect the ocean and its ecosystems.

Everyone can join!
From children to elders—no special skills needed, just the willingness to care for our environment.

Why it matters
In Timor-Leste, our lives depend on the ocean—for food, livelihoods, and tourism. But pollution harms marine life like coral, seagrass, and fish, and affects our communities.

We are lucky
Timor-Leste is part of the Coral Triangle, one of the richest marine biodiversity regions in the world. That’s why it’s important to protect not only the ocean, but also our beaches.

Together, we can make a difference—protect our ocean today for future generations. 💙

Underwater Cinema is a volunteer-led initiative empowering young Timorese people to protect the marine environment. By increasing access to and understanding of life beneath the waves, the project fosters deeper connection and care for the ocean.

Underwater Cinema is the impact project supported through our partnership with everclime this year. Funds generated through our study tours are directed toward this initiative, ensuring student participation contributes to a single, focused environmental outcome.

🌊GET TO KNOW OUR SNORKELING ACTIVITY

Snorkeling with us is a fun and educational way to explore the beauty of life under the sea. While floating on the surface of the ocean, participants can observe the amazing marine life below using simple equipment like a mask, snorkel, and fins.

🤿 Who can join?�Our snorkeling activity is open to everyone who is interested in learning about the ocean and marine life. Even if you don’t know how to swim, you can still participate.

Before the activity begins, the Underwater Cinema team will provide a short orientation on how to use the snorkeling equipment and how to stay safe in the water. We will provide all the necessary gear, including masks, snorkels, and safety equipment such as life jackets, so everyone can participate safely and comfortably.

🐠 Why is snorkeling important?�Snorkeling is not just about fun. However, It helps us see and learn more about the life that exists beneath the ocean, such as fish and coral reefs. Through this experience, people can better understand the marine ecosystem and why it is important to protect it.

🌏 Timor-Leste is surrounded by the ocean and located in the Coral Triangle, one of the most biodiverse marine regions in the world. However, many people have never experienced the incredible life that exists beneath our waters.

Through our work at Underwater Cinema, we are committed to creating the opportunities for Timorese people to explore the ocean themselves, so they can see it with their own eyes, understand its importance, and help protect our marine ecosystems.

GoFundMe - Go Fund Us

Underwater Cinema is a Timorese-led volunteer group dedicated to educating Timorese people about marine conservation. We organise weekly snorkelling and beach clean-up events, attracting large turnouts. We also collect data on trash and plastic, and collaborate with schools to conduct ocean awareness talks. By engaging citizens in these activities, Underwater Cinema aims to bridge the gap between the Timorese and our rich marine environment, fostering a culture of
ocean conservation in Timor-Leste.

The group was born from a deep desire to communicate to Timorese people the state of our oceans and marine resources. Timor-Leste is located in the heart of the Coral Triangle, the region with the world’s highest levels of marine biodiversity, hence the group’s name: each time we dive in the waters of our country, it is a cinematic experience!

We believe that safe access to the ocean is essential for learning about marine ecosystems, building confidence in the water, and fostering long-term stewardship of our coasts and oceans. That’s why we are raising funds to purchase essential swimming and safety equipment, including:
- Lifejackets
- Snorkels and masks
- Safety buoys
- Other basic gear and safety equipment we need

By supporting this campaign, you will help ensure that our activities can be delivered safely, inclusively, and regularly, giving more people the opportunity to learn vital water skills and develop a deeper connection with the ocean. Every contribution, big or small, will be used responsibly to directly support the purchase of equipment that will be used again and again.

Your support will help keep people safe in the water while encouraging the next generation of ocean stewards in Timor-Leste. Thank you for helping Underwater Cinema continue our efforts!
