The National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan (NABWT) was founded in 1995 as a non commercial, public organization. As a result of the re-registration NABWT acquired a Republican status. The mandate of the Association is to expand economic rights and opportunities for women; providing them with economic empowerment. Whether this is through helping them with business skills, vocational s
kills, promoting access to resources and education, changing the environment within which they do business, opening up new markets, helping women to share skills and ensuring our activities reach the most vulnerable in society. NABWT is currently one of the biggest non commercial organizations working in the sphere of reducing poverty in Tajikistan. Working through the support and development of small and medium entrepreneurship, it provides entrepreneurs with access to education and facilitates the creation of favorable conditions for the advancement of business in Tajikistan. NABWT is a membership organization and has branches in 9 cities. With over 1800 members and a network that spans Central Asia, it provides services to individuals, businesses and organizations throughout Tajikistan. Its members include both women entrepreneurs and those employed, in diverse sectors ranging from the service industry to processing of agricultural production, from work that can be carried out in the home to those in production, manufacturing and sales, and from the food industry to the handicraft industry. The National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan has gained considerable experience in implementing advocacy projects and lobbying for the rights and interests of women entrepreneurs. Additionally it has trainers based in districts throughout the country delivering courses and workshops on market reforms, business planning and vocational skills, thus promoting women entrepreneurs.
