Myat Myat Moe is 18 years old.
She is the third child in a family of five and is studying in Grade 12.
Her family lives in a remote mountain area in Myanmar. They are farmers.
She was diagnosed with heart disease at the age of 3. She had shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. Doctors advised surgery, but it was not available in Myanmar and her mother could not afford treatment abroad, so no surgery was done.
Between the ages of 3 and 15, when she became tired, her mother would let her rest and the symptoms would improve.
At age 15, her condition became much worse. She was extremely tired, and her lips and fingernails turned blue. Her family took her to a hospital in Myanmar, where she stayed for 5 days and received oxygen.
She became so tired that she could not walk to school and had to travel by motorcycle with help from relatives.
She was able to come for surgery after villagers told her family about children who had been successfully treated at Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital under Children Heart Beyond Borders charity mission.
She traveled by bus from her village to Mandalay, which took 2 days, then from Mandalay to Mae Sot, another 2 days.
When she arrived at the Mae Tao Clinic, she was very exhausted and needed oxygen.
On January 17, 2026, she was examined by a mobile medical team at Mae Sot Hospital and was admitted. Her oxygen saturation was less than 50% without oxygen.
On January 23, 2026, an ambulance from Mae Sot Hospital transferred her to Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital for surgery.
She is now happy with a healthy heart.
